The first regional rankings are out. Super Region One has no major surprises with the initial rankings but will see a lot of movement over the next several weeks. Games between the initial 10 ranked teams will shuffle the order in the next three weeks. Plus championship games will help to determine the six members that will make up Super Region One in the playoffs on November 16th.

Here is a look at the current top 10 teams:

1. Bloomsburg (8-0, 8-0 D2)- The Huskies are the clear number one team in the region. They crushed West Chester last Saturday 41-10 and are the team to beat in the region. They have the inside track to the PSAC Championship game if they win this weekend against East Stroudsburg. They will play at Lock Haven in the final weekend of the regular season before that potential trip to the championship game.

2. Concord (8-0, 8-0 D2)- The Mountain Lions are the other undefeated team in the region. After a 24-20 victory over Charleston, they have two games before the defacto MEC championship game against Shepherd on November 15th. But tough games with UVA-Wise and Notre Dame can't be overlooked right now for Concord.

3. California (7-1, 7-1 D2)- The Vulcans control their own destiny in the PSAC West. With a win this weekend against Gannon, they will clinch the division and a spot in the PSAC Championship game. They have a game at Mercyhurst to close out the regular season. California has taken care of business since a Week 2 loss to Bloomsburg.

4. West Chester (7-1, 7-1 D2)- The Rams suffered a tough setback when they were defeated by Bloomsburg but are in excellent position to make the playoffs if they win out. They close out their home schedule against Cheyney before trips to East Stroudsburg and Indiana. If they win the final three games, they will be in the top six and make the playoffs.

5. Winston Salem (7-1, 7-1 D2)- The Rams have some work to do in order to make the playoffs again. They play at Shaw this weekend before a match up with Fayetteville State to determine the CIAA Southern division champion. Then the CIAA Championship game for a shot at the playoffs. If the Rams win all three games, they will be back in the playoffs.

6. American International (6-2, 6-1 D2)- The Yellow Jackets are the lone NE-10 team in the rankings and also continue their own destiny. They travel to Merrimack this weekend before hosting Pace in the regular season finale. If they win out, they will host the NE-10 Championship game. A win in the championship game should clinch a second straight trip to the playoffs for AIC.

7. Shepherd (6-1, 6-1 D2)- The Rams were looking good for another trip to the playoffs until a one point loss at Notre Dame two weeks ago. They have some work to do including winning their final three games against Glenville State, West Virginia State and the defacto MEC championship game at home against Concord. If Shepherd is able to win out, they will be in the top six of the region. Another loss and they will have a tough time getting back to the playoffs.

8. Virginia State (6-2, 6-2 D2)- The Trojans have a very similar path to their CIAA counterparts, Winston Salem. They have a winnable game this weekend against Chowan and then play for the CIAA Northern division title when they travel to Virginia Union. The winner of that game will play in the CIAA Championship game against the winner of the Winston Salem/Fayetteville State match up. If Virginia State is able to win out and defeat Winston Salem in the championship game, they should earn a berth in the playoffs.

9. Slippery Rock (6-2, 6-2 D2)- The Rock will need some help if they are going to make the playoffs for consecutive years. They host Edinboro this weekend before traveling to Clarion. They close the regular season with Cheyney. If the Rock finish 3-0, they will need some help from the teams above them. Tough losses to California and Mercyhurst have put them on the outside looking in for the playoffs right now.

10. West Liberty (5-3, 5-2 D2)- The Hilltoppers have lost to the two teams ahead of them in the region right now from the MEC. An opening weekend loss to Shepherd and a Week 4 loss at Concord have them with the toughest road to climb to make the playoffs. They need a lot of help to make the top six. They play this Thursday night at Charleston before hosting UVA-Wise and closing out the season at Notre Dame. It is a tough road for West Liberty and they will need a lot of help along the way in order to make the playoffs.

Right now, it looks like the PSAC will get three teams into the playoffs. The teams that play in the PSAC Championship game are almost locks to make the top six. The MEC is on the cusp of getting two teams in but it will depend on other results. And since Concord and Shepherd still have to play each other, it is tough to say if both teams would get in depnding on how all of the other games shake out.

The CIAA and NE-10 are looking like just one team will get in from each conference. The CIAA Championship game looks like it will determine the participant if Winston Salem and Virginia State meet on November 15th. The only hope for the NE-10 is AIC and they will need to win out to make the playoffs. They can't afford another loss in the regular season as that would hurt their strength of schedule. A loss in the NE-10 championship game would hurt them as well but probably not vault that winner (LIU Post, New Haven or Assumption) into the top six of the region.

As always, teams need to win games on the field and not let the committee decide their fate.
