I will be previewing all of the NE-10 football teams over the next 10 days. I will roll out each team in my preseason poll from # 10 to # 1. The NE-10 will release the coaches' preseason poll on August 21st.

The season starts on September 3rd when defending champ LIU-Post travels to East Stroudsburg to open the 2015 season.

Here is my pick for #8 in the league in 2015:


Merrimack College Warriors (4-7, 4-5 NE-10)

Coach: Dan Curran, 3rd year (11-11)

Opening Game: September 5th vs. Bowie St.

Merrimack struggled on the field last year due to injuries. Major players missed time and are hoping for a healthy 2015 team. The usually high powered offense was slowed down by those injuries and hoping for a better 2015.

The offense will be in the hands of junior Nick LaSpada and sophomore Joe Capobianco. Both saw time last year and will go into camp trying to emerge as the top signal caller. Senior Adriell Mayes will look to take the majority of the handoffs and control the ground game. The receiver core is deep led by senior Jere Brown. Junior Justin Mount and a handful of others will look to stretch the field for the Warriors.

The defense welcomes back severl key players. Redshirt senior Ben Polci will anchor the defense line and do his work in the trenches. Linebackers Jon Hooper and Kristian Jackson will patrol the middle of the field and prevent the big plays. Sophomore Devonte Jones will be a key player from his safety position.

Third year head coach Dan Curran was very pleased with the work that the team put in during the spring and is looking forward to a solid year. He will need his offense to click early and often. And the defense will need to make plays and get off the field when called upon.
