I have been previewing all of the NE-10 over the past nine days. The coaches released their preseason poll on August 21st and training camps are in full swing right now.

The season starts on September 3rd when defending champ LIU-Post travels to East Stroudsburg to open the 2015 season.

Here is my pick for #1 in the league in 2015:

Assumption College Greyhounds (7-4, 6-3 NE-10)

Coach: Bob Chesney, 3rd season (13-9)

Opening Game: September 5th @ Kutztown

2015 Roster

Assumption has been steadily improving each year for the past several years. This year looks to be the one for the Greyhounds as they have the players and commitment to win the NE-10 title.

The offense will feature a new quarterback. Right now, there are five quarterbacks listed on the roster including two Division 1 FCS transfers. Whomever wins the job will have several weapons at their disposal. Senior James Ward and junior Alex Shain should see the majority of the carries out of the backfield. Both will grind out the yards and spring a big play once in a while. Senior David Call and sophomore Ashton Grant will be the main targets down the field. The offensive line for Assumption will be big and mobile pushing the offense up and down the field.

The defense has the ability to be the best in the league. Senior defensive lineman Kevin Ihlefeld will do the work in the trenches. Senior Nick Kessel and junior Nick Valenti will anchor the middle of the field from their linebacking position. The secondary features several playmakers and will be all over the field. Senior Kendall Dardy-Jones, juniors Bakari Blunt and Jarrod Casey along with sophomore Kyle Contreras will be part of one of the best units in the league.

Head coach Bob Chesney has been recruiting and getting his team ready for this point. In his third season at Salve Regina, he made it to the league title game before falling short of the goal. This Assumption team has the talent to win the league and it will be a surprise to no one in the conference when that occurs in November
