It is Week 7 in the NE-10 and it is finally football weather. Cool and crisp is in the forecast. Plus the bright lights will be back in Easton for the league.

St. Anselm (0-6, 0-5 NE-10) @ Assumption (5-1, 4-1 NE-10)

When: October 14th, 7:00 PM

All-Time Series: Assumption leads the series, 12-5-0

My Thoughts: Plenty of points expected.

St. Anselm fell on the road to LIU Post 63-20. The Hawks had no answers for the powerful Post offense and committed too many mistakes to upset the top team in the league. For St. Anselm to win on the road, they will need to play a complete game. The defense will need to get off the field on third down and the offense will need to play mistake free.

Assumption rebounded nicely with a 42-7 victory over Bentley. The Greyhounds were ready to play from the opening kickoff and never looked back. The offense was moving the ball with ease, the special teams were making plays as usual and the defense shut down Bentley. For Assumption to win the game, they will need to be ready to play from the opening kickoff. The offense and defense will need to make plays and special teams will continue their dominance.

Assumption is the better team and will have no issues on their home turf.

Prediction: Assumption 42 St. Anselm 21

Merrimack (1-5, 1-4 NE-10) @ Pace (0-6, 0-5 NE-10)

When: October 15th, 12:00 PM

All-Time Series: Merrimack leads the series, 15-0-0

My Thoughts: Upset in the making?

Merrimack struggled again and fell at home to New Haven 45-14. The Warriors stopped New Haven on their opening possession and it was downhill from there. The defense had no answers and the offense tried Brenton Martin at quarterback to no avail. This is far from the squad that was expected to compete for the NE-10 title. For Merrimack to win on the road, they will need to play like this is the first game of the season. Bury the previous four weeks and play like they have a clean slate. 60 minutes of mistake free football.

Pace fell at home to Southern Connecticut 35-16. The Setters led 16-15 in the third quarter before allowing the Owls to take the lead that they never gave up. A failed fake punt sealed the deal for the Setters as they had a solid offensive effort. For Pace to win the game, they will need to play 60 minutes of solid football. The offense will need to control the clock and the defense will need to limit Merrimack.

Both teams need to right the ship but Merrimack will find a way to escape with a victory.

Prediction: Merrimack 21 Pace 18

Bentley (3-3, 3-2 NE-10) @ American International (3-3, 3-2 NE-10)

When: October 15th, 12:00 PM

All-Time Series: American International leads the series, 11-10-0

My Thoughts: Big game for both teams.

Bentley was crushed by Assumption 42-7 last Friday night. The Falcons let up a long kickoff to open the game and were not able to recover. The offense struggled for the first time and the special teams were over matched by Assumption. Coach Kavanaugh will burn the game tape and look forward. For Bentley to win on the road, they will need to find the end zone. AIC has two consecutive home shutouts and the Falcons will need to find their offensive rhythm early.

American International continued their resurgence with a 19-0 victory over Stonehill. The Yellow Jackets pitched their second straight shutout on their home turf as the offense scored when they were given the opportunity. They moved the ball through the air and capitalized on several Stonehill mistakes. For American International to win the game, they will need to continue their defensive dominance. The offense will need to move the ball and play mistake free while forcing Bentley into bad decisions.

This game will be a defensive struggle but Bentley will have a late defensive score to steal the road win.

Prediction: Bentley 17 American International 16

# 19 LIU Post (6-0, 5-0 NE-10) @ Southern Connecticut (3-3, 3-2 NE-10)

When: October 15th, 12:00 PM

All-Time Series: Southern Connecticut leads the series, 13-12-0

My Thoughts: Another big game for both teams.

LIU Post continued their dominance of the NE-10 with a 63-20 victory over St. Anselm. The Pioneers scored early and often to stay atop the league standings. Jeff Kidd led the offense with four touchdowns (3 pass, 1 run) as they rang up 532 yards. The defense started the scoring with a pick six. For Post to win on the road, they will need to use the same formula as the previous six games. Solid offensive game plan with perfect execution and the defense will continue to limit the big play and get off the field on third down.

Southern Connecticut rallied in the second half to defeat Pace 35-16. The Owls trailed 16-15 before scoring 20 straight to win their third game of the season. The offense has not missed a beat with Ray Catapano under center and the defense stepped up late in the second half. For Southern Connecticut to win the game, they will need to continue their backup magic. Catapano will need to play mistake free and the defense will need to contain Kidd. They will also need to make a couple of big plays on either side of the ball.

LIU Post will grind out the victory as they are on a mission to play for the NE-10 title.

Prediction: LIU Post 35 Southern Connecticut 17

New Haven (4-2, 4-1 NE-10) @ Stonehill (2-4, 2-3 NE-10)

When: October 15th, 6:00 PM

All-Time Series: New Haven leads the series, 6-1-0

My Thoughts: Bright lights in Easton again.

New Haven won their fourth straight as they easily defeated Merrimack 45-14. Andre Anderson continued his solid play with three trips to the end zone. A fake field goal for a score also sparked the Chargers to a road win. This is a different team than the one that walked off the field at Post in early September. For New Haven to win on the road, they will need to continue to move the ball with ease. Patterson will distribute the ball to his playmakers and the defense will continue their solid play.

Stonehill fell on the road to American International 19-0. The quest for the first victory over the Yellow Jackets continues as it was not the Skyhawks' day. The offense struggled and turned the ball over too much. The defense did their job for the most part but you cannot win too many games with a zero on the scoreboard. For Stonehill to win the game, they will need to find the offensive rhythm that seems to come and go. The defense will need to limit the big play capability of New Haven and force them to make mistakes.

This game is on ESPN 3 and we are hoping for the same type of game that the two played years ago on CBS Sports Network. But one team is starting to peak at the right time of the season.

Prediction: New Haven 31 Stonehill 14
