It is amazing that we are in the final weekend of the regular season. It seems like yesterday that we were previewing the season and now it is coming to an end. We need to figure out a way to make football season longer as the time seems to fly by each year.

Stonehill (3-6, 3-5 NE-10) @ Pace (0-9, 0-8 NE-10)

When: November 5th, 12:00 PM

All-Time Series: Stonehill leads the series, 12-9-0

My Thoughts: Two teams in need of a win.

Stonehill fell at home to Assumption 30-6. The Skyhawks held their own in the first half before depth issues and a better opponent emerged in the second half. The Stonehill defensive line was solid in the game and limited the Assumption running game. For Stonehill to win on the road, they will need get healthy quickly. They need some playmakers back on the offensive side of the ball to help their defense stay fresh and off the field.

Pace fell on the road to LIU Post 35-17. The Setters racked up 320 yards of offense and played better in the second half. The running game moved the sticks and the defense did not allow the Post offense to completely dominate the game. For Pace to win the game, they will need their second half effort for the entire 60 minutes. The defense will need to make stops and the offense will need to move the sticks.

This game will be close and come down to a late drive that Stonehill will use for the winning points.

Prediction: Stonehill 16 Pace 13

St. Anselm (2-7, 2-6 NE-10) @ Southern Connecticut (5-4, 5-3 NE-10)

When: November 5th, 12:00 PM

All-Time Series: Southern Connecticut leads the series, 13-3-0

My Thoughts: Both teams looking for three in a row.

St. Anselm jumped out early in a 28-17 victory over Merrimack. The Hawks scored the first 28 points of the game en route to the second consecutive win. The offense moved the ball and the defense was solid in containing Merrimack for the first three quarters. For St. Anselm to win on the road, they will need more of the same. Solid offensive execution and a defense that make stops on third downs.

Southern Connecticut defeated Bentley 35-13 to win their second in a row and three out of four. The Owls are clicking on the offensive side of the ball as the running game is grinding out yards and playing very well. The defense has stepped out the past several weeks and limiting the opposition. For Southern Connecticut to win the game, it is the same formula that saw success in October. Run the ball with ease and the defense gets off the field when they have the chance.

Southern Connecticut will continue their roll as they will use the ground game to perfection.

Prediction: Southern Connecticut 28 St. Anselm 17

Bentley (5-4, 5-3 NE-10) @ New Haven (5-4, 5-3 NE-10)

When: November 5th, 12:00 PM

All-Time Series: New Haven leads the series, 6-1-0

My Thoughts: Third place is on the line.

Bentley to fell to Southern Connecticut 35-13. The usually opportunistic Falcons were the ones giving the Owls the opportunities. They turned the ball over early and just never recovered. They now face their second straight weekend in the greater New Haven area against a quality opponent. For Bentley to win on the road, they will need to play mistake free. The offense will need to score when in the red zone and the defense will not allow the New Haven offense to move the ball with ease.

New Haven defeated American International 35-0 and became the first NE-10 team to score a touchdown in Springfield this year. In fact, they scored four times today on offense and once on special teams. The Chargers played very well on both sides of the ball. For New Haven to win the game, they will need to repeat their AIC game. Solid offense and strong defense.

This game will be close and come down to a late score by New Haven.

Prediction: New Haven 28 Bentley 24

# 14 LIU Post (9-0, 8-0 NE-10) @ Merrimack (2-7, 2-6 NE-10)

When: November 5th, 1:00 PM

All-Time Series: Post leads the series, 10-2-0

My Thoughts: Two teams going in opposite directions.

LIU Post secured home field for the NE-10 title game when they defeated Pace 35-17. Another solid rushing attack for the Pioneers helped them to stay unblemished on the season and back into the NE-10 championship game. The defense struggled in the second half but the lead was never in doubt. For Post to win on the road, they will need to repeat their game plan from the first nine weeks. Solid offensive attack and a defense that doesn't allow the big play.

Merrimack fell on the road to St. Anselm 28-17. They fell behind early but rallied in the fourth quarter to make it respectable. The Warriors moved the ball in the fourth quarter and put up 17 points. For Merrimack to win the game, they will need to play a complete game and make minimal mistakes. The defense will need to make plays and the offense needs to take advantage of them.

Post is the better team and will complete their undefeated regular season.

Prediction: Post 35 Merrimack 10

American International (3-6, 3-5 NE-10) @ # 22 Assumption (8-1, 7-1 NE-10)

When: November 5th, 1:00 PM

All-Time Series: American International leads the series, 15-4-0

My Thoughts: Offense vs Defense

American International fell to New Haven 35-0. The defense allowed their first touchdown at home to New Haven as the offense had no answers. The Yellow Jackets were not able to generate much offense once again and the defense was not there to bail them out. For American International to win the game, they will need to move the ball and score when given the chance. The defense will also need to slow down Assumption.

Assumption surged in the second half to a 30-6 victory over Stonehill. The Greyhounds struggled in the opening half before finally clicking on both sides of the ball in the second half. They moved the ball through the air and the defense was outstanding once again. For Assumption to win the game, they will need to continue their formula of solid offensive and defensive contributions. They need to play their style and the results will be fine.

Assumption is a notch ahead and will win the game going away.

Prediction: Assumption 38 American International 10
