It is that time of the year again, football season. The teams have been on campus for a couple of weeks now and are preparing for the 2017 season.
It all kicks off on August 31st when Bentley travels to West Chester and St. Anselm plays at Wagner.

Here is my pick for #1 in the league in 2017:

Long Island University-Post Pioneers (12-1, 9-0 NE-10)

Bryan Collins, 20th season (142-69)

Opening Game:2017 Schedule

2016 Stats

2017 Roster

Game to Watch: September 30th vs. Assumption

The rematch of the 2016 NE-10 championship game will be an exciting game. Two solid teams with very little holes on either side of the ball. The winner will have the inside track for additional games in November while the loser will need to make up ground.

Player to Watch: Kevin Petit-Frere, DL

The senior defensive end is tough for any offensive linemen in the league to handle. He is quick, strong and powerful and has a nose for the ball. He can beat you on the inside or the outside move. If you double team him, the rest of his teammates will be making plays in the backfield.

Unit to Watch: Quarterback

The Pioneers have most of their top players back from 2016 but the major position that they saw graduate was their MVP quarterback. They have several candidates for the job including transfers and players who saw time last year. Whoever wins the job will have plenty of weapons to get the ball to.

Outlook:

Twenty-year head coach Bryan Collins expects nothing less than a league title each year. Last year was great for the Post but they are looking for more in 2017. They have plenty of talent back and would like to pick up where they left off with dominating defense and the offense putting points on the board.
