Week 9 in the NE-10 and the nation will get a chance to see the league. But a possible rain storm might alter the quality of play in the New England area.

New Haven (6-1, 6-0 NE-10) @ Stonehill (1-6, 1-5 NE-10)

When: October 27th, 1:00 PM

All-Time Series: New Haven leads the series, 7-2-0

My Thoughts: Trap game?

New Haven defeated Assumption 27-21 for the first time in five years and six tries. They jumped out to a 27-0 lead and hung on for the win in the fourth quarter. Ajee Patterson was the catalyst again with four touchdown passes. The Chargers need to approach the game the same way they did the Assumption game. Come out of the gate fast and never look back. Let Patterson sling the ball around the field and make things happen.

Stonehill fell to Bentley 38-10 last Saturday on the road. After an impressive opening drive, it was a nightmare for the rest of the game for the Skyhawks. They allowed 38 points and over 500 yards while they only scored three points and had 160 yards. The Skyhawks will need a full 60-minute performance and get pressure on Patterson. They will need to grind out the clock with their running game.

New Haven will be sluggish in the first half but take control of the game in the second half.

Prediction: New Haven 38 Stonehill 14

American International (0-6, 0-6 NE-10) @ Merrimack (3-4, 3-3 NE-10)

When: October 27th, 1:00 PM

All-Time Series: American International leads the series, 14-9-0

My Thoughts: Teams are headed in opposite directions.

American International lost to Southern Connecticut 48-21 for their 11th straight defeat dating back to 2017. They were not able to handle the rushing attack of the Owls and played from behind the entire afternoon. The Yellow Jackets need to limit their mistakes and find a way to move the chains. The defense needs make stops and get off the field.

Merrimack won their second straight road game as they defeated St. Anselm 31-28. Christian Carter again was the leader of the offense as his arm and legs were key to the victory. He has matured over the course of the season and helping to put up solid numbers. The Warriors need to continue their streak by playing mistake free and spreading the ball around to all of the playmakers. The defense will need to get off the field on third down and frustrate the American International offense.

Merrimack will continue their hot streak.

Prediction: Merrimack 31 American International 10

Southern Connecticut (4-3, 3-3 NE-10) @ Pace (4-3, 3-3 NE-10)

When: October 27th, 1:00 PM

All-Time Series: Southern Connecticut leads the series, 21-1-0

My Thoughts: Solid matchup.

Southern Connecticut rebounded nicely with a 48-21 victory over American International. Both sides of the ball did their jobs and the offense was able to be very balanced. The running game was again solid, and the defense forced turnovers. The Owls need to continue their rushing attack and control the clock. The defense will need to slow down the Pace offense and not allow them to control the clock.

Pace fell on the road to LIU Post 41-6. It was a forgettable game for the offense as they only had 137 yards of offense and did not complete a single pass the entire afternoon. The defense was not as bad but did yield too many points to win the game. The Setters need to rebound quickly and put the tough performance behind them. They will need to establish their running game and pounce on scoring opportunities.

This game will feature a lot of rushing attempts and move quickly. The Owls will find a way to win on the road.

Prediction: Southern Connecticut 24 Pace 13

# 18 LIU Post (7-0, 6-0 NE-10) @ Assumption (5-2, 5-1 NE-10)

When: October 27th, 1:00 PM

All-Time Series: Post leads the series, 12-3-0

My Thoughts: Nationally televised game.

LIU Post crushed Pace 41-6 last Saturday. The defense was again solid as they did not allow a completion the entire day and intercepted four passes. The offense jumped on their short field opportunities and executed to perfection. The Pioneers need a solid defensive effort on the road and not allow the weapons of Assumption to make plays. The offense needs to strike early and often.

Assumption rallied late but fell to New Haven 27-21. Down 27-0, they scored 21 straight points but dung too deep of a hole and ran out of time. The offense did not start clicking until the fourth quarter and then was unstoppable. The Greyhounds will need a full 60-minute performance and not play from behind the entire game. The offense needs to score early, and the defense needs to force turnovers.

This game will show the nation the strength of the league, but Post is the better team and will stay unblemished.

Prediction: Post 38 Assumption 24

Bentley (2-5, 2-4 NE-10) @ St. Anselm (1-5, 1-5 NE-10)

When: October 27th, 6:00 PM

All-Time Series: Bentley leads the series, 17-1-0

My Thoughts: Saturday Night Lights.

Bentley easily defeated Stonehill 38-10 last Saturday. The offense finally had a breakout game as they had over 500 yards and moved the ball up and down the field. The defense was solid after allowing a long opening scoring drive. The Falcons will need to repeat the performance and find the groove again to move the ball with ease. The defense needs to make tackles in the open field and get off the field.

St. Anselm lost a close one to Merrimack 31-28 last weekend. The offense moved the ball through the air or via the ground with Eric Fairweather. It was a typical game between the two that saw plenty of offense. The Hawks will need to make some defensive plays and force bad decisions by Sturm. The offense will need to repeat their performance of last weekend and score when they have the chance.

Bentley will find a way to win on the road.

Prediction: Bentley 27 St. Anselm 17
