The mid-point of the season came and went. We find ourselves analyzing the remaining schedules and fantasizing about the various "what-if" scenarios. Fairmont State and Shepherd are both undefeated and looking forward to post-season play. It's possible a 1-loss Notre Dame College gives Fairmont State its first loss, and jumping over Fairmont State with the head-to-head advantage. It's possible the Fairmont State @ Shepherd game in the second-to-last week decides the conference champion and chance at a high Super Region 1 ranking. And it's possible NDC beats Fairmont who turns around and beats Shepherd and all three have one loss in a very tangled web.
But as I've been told by Shepherd's coaches, the most important game is the one they have scheduled that week--regardless of who the opponent is and what lays ahead in the week's to come. And we have a lot of football yet before we get to those games. It's possible the Fighting Falcons suffer their first loss tonight.
The second-half of the season is here and let's get it underway ....
