Week 1 gives us a taste of the action we've been waiting for during the off-season. A chance for teams to establish identities and begin answering questions about off-season acquisitions and losses. But Week 1 doesn't give us all of the answers. As we enter the second week of action we can begin to analyze the data for trends to help us understand the present and possibly forecast the future.
Is Charleston's offense for real? Is Shepherd's rushing defense for real? Did Jaleel McLaughlin and Tyson Bagent have beginners' luck, or are they the real deal? Is there more parity in the Conference or will the same teams find themselves rising to the top over the course of the season?
It's still early and there's a lot more football to be played, but the images projected by each team begin to come into a little more focus this week.

Both the Cavaliers and Yellow Jackets are looking for their first win of the season. The Cavaliers only managed to put up 7 points at their home opener against Glenville State. The Yellow Jackets found themselves in a hole against Charleston, but managed to come back and hold the lead for a bit before ultimately losing a high-scoring affair to the Golden Eagles. WV State lost to UVA-Wise last year on the road thanks to the help of four turnovers. If the Yellow Jackets can limit the mistakes this week, they may be able to out-pace the Cavaliers.
