Welcome back for another year, gang. We at D2Football.com will be trying utilizing a different format for our coverage this year, moving to a blog that we can update regularly vs. a weekly column/post. Our coverage will be the same in some ways, and different in others. One of the differences you'll likely see is an increased frequency of posts, and hopefully a more interactive format. We hope you enjoy, and encourage your feedback.

We are now under three weeks until the start of the season, and camps are now open league-wide. Preparations have begun for the openers most GLIAC clubs have slated for Labor Day weekend, with a full slate of conference games set for the following week. Barring any changes (which rumors are swirling that they might be coming...more on that later), this will be the last year of the Divisional format for the league, as well as the last year of having an even number of conference teams. So, starting in 2012 we'll still have 10 league games each year, but we'll go back to staggered bye weeks like we saw a few years ago. As you can imagine, that will make the scheduling of out-of-conference games on the off week a bit tougher than it is today (with everyone having Week 1 off), but we've seen this before so the membership will certainly find ways to make the best of it.
