The Lions made the long bus trip out to Western Kansas and, unlike their other long road trip to Kearney earlier in the year, they played a pretty competitive game. The Tigers outscored the Lions 10-0 in the second quarter to open up a 20-7 lead, but the home crowd might have been a little nervous early in the third when Lindenwood took their opening drive of the second half all the way to pay dirt to cut the lead to 20-14 with 11:32 in the third. FHSU scored another touchdown two possessions later to make it 27-14, and the Tiger defense stiffened from then on, allowing just one scoring opportunity the rest of the way. Unfortunately for Lions fans, it sailed wide right and they never really threatened again. While the Lions outpaced the Tigers with 20 first downs to 17 and outgained them 148 -57 on the ground, the Tigers more than made up that deficit in passing yardage, outgunning LU by over 200 yards through the air (389-178), and that was the diffference. FHSU improved to 7-2 and dropped the Lions to 3-6.
