To my knowledge we don't have cops at our games. Mostly older folks that go, the band, and 15-20 students. Odds are if they're at a game they aren't the rowdy type anyway. Really no need to be policed.

I'm not a big fan of defunding the police either. Reforms, maybe, but we need them. I am however a big fan of working to prevent the crime before it happens instead of relying on the folks who show up after it happens. We need a balance of both.

How many D2 followers would like to see police funding reduced to the point that they are no longer assigned to games or traffic control? There's a strong possibility that that just may happen in many towns and cities.
Most state-owned schools have their own police departments, so I don't know if it will be as significant of an impact. Typically, schools will reimburse local police departments/sheriff's offices for crowd/traffic control details, so it doesn't necessarily have an impact on the budget. But, no, I'm not thrilled with some of these calls to "defund police" - that worries me that some cities will go too far in cutting funding and those cities turn into high crime areas.

Anyway- is a social worker supposed to handle a rowdy drunk at a game by calling for a time out? I doubt if that would end well.
Social worker will reason with the drunk and explain that his actions are counter productive. That should solve the problem. If the drunk actually hit someone before the Social Worker "deescalated" the situation, there will be a Victims Advocate on hand to explain the counseling and social services that the victim can access to help him/her cope with their mental anguish. That should fix the problem!!!
