Former NW FB coach Vern Thomsen

Kinda old news(Coach Thomsen died last December) but I just saw it in the NW Alum magazine. Vern coached at NW from ‘83-‘87 and guided NW to their 1st D2 PO berth in ‘84. His offense was dubbed ‘Air Northwest’ and I still have an old hat with that slogan.

We used to joke that 4th & 1 from your own 10 yd line was still a passing down 😎

BQ was the pilot of that offense. Bearcats were pretty good that year. Not so much afterward.

Yes Quinn was a good QB and NW finished 10-2 that year( only losing to UNI and then to UNO in round 1 of PO’s. I was at that game and NW was plagued by fumbles

Played baseball with him my 1st year at NW. Jim Wasem holdover. Cannon for an arm.
