West Texas A&M head football coach Hunter Hughes has announced the addition of Brian Miller to the WT coaching staff with a focus on the offensive line.

"We are excited to welcome Brian to the city of Canyon and West Texas A&M," said Hughes "He brings a lot of experience across all levels of collegiate football that will mix well with our coaching staff and student-athletes."

Miller has over 25 years of collegiate coaching experience as he comes to Canyon following four years as the offensive line coach at Fairmont State in Fairmont, West Virginia. FSU's front line flourished during Miller's time as they registered the 20th best rushing attack in the country during the 2019 campaign while also ranking 18th in scoring offense, 13th in total offense, and 36th in passing offense.

2018 saw four of the five Fairmont State starters up front earn All-Mountain East Conference honors including first-team selections by Zach Cox and Chander Zavala. Zavala was also named an Honorable Mention All-American by the Don Hansen Gazette to become the first Fighting Falcon to claim All-America honors at the school since 1994.

Miller served as an Offensive Analyst at the University of Missouri in 2017 where he worked specifically with tight ends and quarterbacks. He was also heavily involved in recruiting for the Tigers as UM led the SEC in scoring offense and total offense during the 2017 campaign.

Miller made his first stop in NCAA Division I as a graduate assistant offensive line coach at Kansas during the 2010 and 2011 seasons. Miller helped develop two All-Big 12 offensive linemen while at KU and was also a member of one of the greatest comebacks in college football history, as the Jayhawks erased a 28-point, fourth-quarter deficit against Colorado in 2010.

Prior to his time at Kansas, Miller served as offensive coordinator, offensive line coach, and academic coordinator at Washburn from 2002 to 2009. While in Topeka, the offense averaged over 40 points per game during the 2009 season to rank fourth in the country. In all, Miller's offenses produced the top four offensive seasons in school history and set 20 school records on the offensive side of the ball.

Prior to eight seasons at WU, Miller served as Associate Head Football Coach and Offensive Coordinator at the University of Minnesota-Crookston from 1997 to 2002. During his six seasons at UMC, Miller's offense set 17 team and individual records on the offensive side of the ball. Miller also spent time at Northern State (1995-97) and St. Cloud State (1994-95) early in his coaching career.

Miller earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration from Hastings College in 1989. He graduated with a Master's of Science in Athletic Administration from St. Cloud State in 1996.
