Honestly its pretty simple. Without too many details, what I came up with is very similar to the BCS formula, using multiple polls, etc. Ive used SOS in the past but its hard to find a really good site for that.
I do it mostly for fun, and when its early on in the season it changes so much week to week. Most of the time it's pretty accurate at the end. Last year or the year before I correctly predicted 21 of the 24 playoff teams I think.
I do agree with your analysis on Commerce. But most of that is the fact the 2 major d2 polls have them ranked very high still.
