So after a week of Davids vs. Goliaths in MIAA play, things are starting to figure themselves out a little bit.

Five teams are now ranked in the D2Football.com Top 25, with maybe Pitt State being the only surprise team in there. All five came out on top last week, some more convincingly than others, but even though they may have struggled at times, Central, Washburn and Pitt all showed massive juevos in coming from behind for big victories.

This is when the High 5 gets interesting. No more cellar dwellers sneaking into the bottom half of my unofficial power rankings; The cream has risen to the top, all that's left is to figure out what cream tastes best in my coffee.

So here it is. Looking at just the three weeks of this season and what the teams have done, here's my High 5 heading into Week 4.

1. Northwest Missouri - It's an awfully familiar spot for the Bearcats, who continue to pour it on. Even without their No. 1 QB and WR, they still managed to drop 73 points on Lincoln. That's going to happen a lot to Lincoln, and one could argue the teams they've played aren't exactly top-tier, and I wouldn't disagree with you, but the sheer dominance they've shown has me confortable with leaving them at the top.

2. Pittsburg State - If for no other reason than to not jinx them, I'm staying away from officially jumping on their bandwagon, and even though they struggled mightily to beat an up-and-down Truman team, I like what they've done. To drive down the field like they did in the last minute to take the lead is a thing of beauty. I still think we'll need to see more passing out of Zac Dickey (who has shown he can air it out at times) but as we stand now, I think they've earned this spot on my list.

3. Washburn - A nice comeback last week against Missouri Southern and two convincing victories in the first two weeks are nice and all, but do you know how many combined Division II wins the Ichabods' opponents have? Zero. Lincoln is the only team they've played who has a notch in the win column, and that came against NAIA Avila in Week 1. I will say though they look about as balanced as any team in the conference and a win this week on national television will do a lot to move the 'Bods up.

4. Missouri Western - David Bass and Ben Pister. Enough said. Seriously, I could just stop there. Those two are becoming a real trouble-maker for opposing quarterbacks, already racking up seven and four sacks, respectively in the first three games. Throw in Little P, who's starting to show his wings as he gets a little more experience under his belt, and I think you might have one of the most underrated teams in all of Division II (ranked 25th in the D2Football.com poll and not ranked in the AFCA coaches' poll).

5. Central Missouri - The cardiac kids are back! Man, did it look bad when they fell down 18 points to Emporia in the third quarter last week. But out of nowhere comes Jamar Howard, catching deep bombs left and right from Tommy Corwin, and the Mules come back for an impressive victory. The run game, improved against ESU, still needs work, and the defense could stand a bit of improvement, but when Corwin is clicking, this team is going to be hard to beat.
