Pittsburg State has moved into the top spot in Super Region 4, despite not even having played last week.
I'm an MIAA guy, so I'll take it and smile, but does that really make sense? I get why it happened. Midwestern's win against Eastern New Mexico must have dropped their strength of schedule. ENMU only has two wins on the season. But you know what, the team Pitt played didn't have any wins at all.
I'm not making the argument that Pitt doesn't deserve to be No. 1. I think they're just as deserving, if not more so, than MSU. What I AM saying is that these Regional Rankings are pretty dumb. When one bye week can flip-flop the two top teams in the region, I think something is wrong.
Either Pitt deserved to be No. 1 last week, or Midwestern should still be No. 1.
I suppose there's going to be issues with ANY ranking system, especially any one the NCAA chooses (BCS anyone?), but these things just kind of make you go hmmmmmm.....
Here's Super Region 4's new rankings, with Rank, Team, In-region record, Overall record

AH - There is no opinion as to whether one thought Pitt or Midwestern were better last week or this. Winning and quality of competition are the only factors unless there are H2H issues.
