Updated with MORE TEAMS' chances at making a bowl gameNEW: And even Missouri Southern and idle Central Missouri could still sneak into contention if things go their wayEmporia State (8-2, 8-2) at Washburn (7-3, 7-3)Prediction: Tyler Eckenrode shines in his last regular season game. Emporia State 31 Washburn 24
Lindenwood (7-3, 6-3) at Truman State (4-6, 3-6)Prediction: Lindenwood 49 Truman State 17
Pittsburg State (6-3, 6-3_ at Missouri Southern (6-4, 5-4)UPDATED: Even with Southern's disappointing loss to SBU, they could still make it to one of the bowls if they win, get some help and then get chosen amid a cluster of other teams.Prediction: Southern keeps Pitt State in Funky Town. MSSU 30 Pitt State 24
Northeastern State (3-6, 3-6) at Central Oklahoma (2-7, 2-7)Prediction: Riverhawks keep rolling. NSU 28 UCO 20
Fort Hays State (4-6, 3-6) at Nebraska-Kearney (3-7, 2-7)
Saturday, Nov. 10; 2 p.m.
Foster Field; Kearney, Neb
UNK, another team on a winning streak since hitting the soft part of their schedule, has a bit of momentum as the final game of the season approaches. Hays is a failed 2-point conversion away from playing this game for a winning record.
PredictionLincoln (1-9, 1-9) at Southwest Baptist (2-8, 2-8)
Saturday, Nov. 10; 1 p.m.
Plaster Stadium; Bolivar, Mo.
I flipped a coin. It landed on Lincoln. And they seem to have a better offense.
Prediction: Lincoln 28 Southwest Baptist 13
Where does that leave us?Emporia beats Washburn; Lindenwood beats Truman; Southern beats Pittsburg
Emporia 9-2; Lindenwood 7-3; Washburn 7-4; Pittsburg 6-4
This is the one I already went over. Emporia and Lindenwood are your bowl teams.
Emporia beats Washburn, Lindenwood beats Truman, Pittsburg beats Southern
Emporia 9-2; Lindenwood 7-3; Pittsburg 7-3; Washburn 7-4
This is also pretty straight-forward. Emporia still gets its pick. Lindenwood still gets the leftover, on account of its head-to-head over Pittsburg, the only other team to finish in a tie.
Emporia beats Washburn; Truman beats Lindenwood; Pittsburg beats Southern
Emporia 9-2; Pittsburg 7-3; Washburn 7-4; Lindenwood 6-4
Still, pretty simple. Emporia gets the pick. Pittsburg goes second.
NEW: Emporia beats Washburn; Truman beats Lindenwood; Southern beats Pittsburg
Emporia 9-2; Washburn 7-4, Lindenwood 6-4; Pittsburg 6-4; Missouri Southern 6-4; Central Missouri 6-4
This is where it gets interesting. Emporia would get their pick of the first game, but because there is no clear-cut tie-breaker in head-to-head (no one team beat (or played) the other three) to decide the next-highest finisher, it is left entirely up to the Bowl Selection Committees. The way it was explained to me by a league source, the remaining bowl can take ANY of the teams left over.
Washburn beats Emporia; Lindenwood beats Truman; Pittsburg beats Southern
Washburn 8-3; Emporia 8-3; Lindenwood 7-3; Pittsburg 7-3
Another interesting scenario here, where both bowls would be left with options. The selection committees would then be tasked with working together to figure out who goes where and who gets first dibs on a team both bowls might want.
Washburn beats Emporia; Lindenwood beats Truman; Southern beats Pittsburg
Washburn 8-3; Emporia 8-3; Lindenwood 7-3; Pittsburg 6-4
Washburn would get their pick of the first bowl because of head-to-head victories over both Emporia State and Lindenwood. Emporia, with their win over Lindenwood, would get the leftover.
Washburn beats Emporia; Truman beats Lindenwood; Pittsburg beats SouthernWashburn beats Emporia; Truman beats Lindenwood; Southern beats Pittsburg
Washburn 8-3; Emporia 8-3; Lindenwod 6-4; Pittsburg 6-4
Simple. Washburn has the tie-breaker over Emporia. Washburn gets first, Emporia goes next.
If somehow, the loser of the MIAA title game gets bumped out of the playoffs, everything above would still apply, you would just move the first choice to second choice. The above second choice would then be eliminated.
I hope that all makes sense. If you have a question, comment or concern, leave a comment below, tweet me @miAARONd2, message/friend me at www.facebook.com/apheintz or drop me a note at [email protected].

Good job running thru all the scenarios. Don't forget Jerry is due to have a mental lapse and take it out on either a band director or an end zone pylon. The Cats will return the MIAA title to Maryville.

#2Guest commented11-10-2012, 07:16 PMEditing a commentNice prediction, Normal. Here's mine from 10 days ago: 11-01-2012"You nailed the elephant, really. MoWest flat out beat Emporia.... I listened to the game and...screamed...for Partridge to NOT put the reserves in....and the result was a score that wasn't as close as it looks. ...I make a prediction. MoWest will beat Washburn and then beat Northwest in a close game. They're the better team. I hope I'm right, anyway."
