Here we are in the final week of the season and all games in the GSC have playoff implications as one team in each game is ranked in the top six of the SR2 Regional Rankings. That's pretty incredible when you think about it!

This week will also feature in-state games or close geographic proximity as FIT welcomes their nearest GSC neighbor VSU, while UWA hosts UNA, UWG travels to Rome to face Shorter and MC renews their rivalry with DSU in Cleveland.

There just hasn't been enough hours in the week for me. So, this week's previews will be in two parts.

GSC-TV Game of the Week

North Alabama (8-1, 5-1) vs. West Alabama (5-5, 2-4)
6 PM CST on Thursdays (ESPN3.com or with the WATCH ESPN app)

Coach Wallace takes his UNA team back to Livingston where he has friends and fond memories as the UWA coach. He'll put those aside and get his team ready to face a tough, but up-and-down Tiger squad.

North Alabama will be playing to grab at least a share of the conference title and a spot in the playoffs, while West Alabama will be looking to keep their streak of winning seasons in tact and send out a troupe of talented seniors with a win.

This game features two very capable quarterbacks in UWA's Kyle Caldwell (2523 all-purpose yards and 24 TD's) and UNA's Luke Wingo, although Wingo (1776 all-purpose yards and 17 TD's) has had some off-the-field drama to deal with this week. Both have similar styles of play with good passing and rushing skills, but will be also trying to get other play-makers into the action.

For UWA that's RB Javae Swindle (6.2 yards per carry) and WR Chad Toocheck (16.5 yards per catch and 4 TD's), while the Lions will look to get RB Lamonte Thompson (741 yards and 9 TD's) and WR Delvon Carpenter (19.1 yards per catch and 6 TD's) involved.

The Tigers defense is led by Fred Barnes and Quinton Harton (both with 54 total tackles) and the Lions defense is anchored by Steven Rich with 74 total tackles. The UNA defense also has 15 interceptions so far this season.

It's going to be a battle in Livingston, but the Lions have more on the line. I think it will be close for much of the game and that UNA will pull away in the 4th quarter.

Lions 38-21
