The Hawks were throttled in Pensacola last week. Starting quarterback Tyler Pullum was out and Shorter had freshmen Coey Watson at the helm of the offense. His inexperience was exploited by the Argos defense and the game was never in question as the Hawks generated just 130 yards and one score - a late-game pass to Joseph Ross. Khaleel Fabian led the game with 9 tackles. Sadly for SU, they are running headlong into another buzz saw this week.

The Blazers are on fire in multiple figurative ways. Other than their mascot, Valdosta State made a blazing statement last week in what was a continuation of the elevated play on display in the opening weeks. Repeat GSC Offensive Player of the Week Rogan Wells was raining touchdowns again with five scoring tosses in their win over UWA. His performance, along with pick sixes by Alex Brown and GSC Defensive Player of the Week Ravarius Rivers, were all key factors in the win. David White My Pick: VSU by 45
