I had an opportunity to chat with Southern Arkansas Head Football Coach Bill Keopple about SAU Football and the upcoming season. Below is a transcript of our conversation. [Editorial note: Parts of this interview were edited to preserve the flow of the conversation.]

Armo
: Coach Keopple thanks for taking time out of your schedule to speak to me today about Southern Arkansas football.

Coach Keopple
: Appreciate you having me on. Looking forward to visiting with you.

Armo
: Looking at the offensive line that was touched on briefly, talk about what that means for the offense this upcoming season, having all that experience right there, especially given the fact that you do have new offensive skill players, particularly with Si Blackshire (though he obviously has played in a few games) taking over the reins as the starter.

Coach Keopple

Armo
: Switching over to defense. First, last year you had one of the better defenses in the GAC, however, you did lose a lot in your front seven. Losing the entire starting linebacking corps and losing quite a few on the line. Realizing that you do have a few players returning that do have some experience. Talk about the challenges these losses are presenting to you and how you are overcoming those challenges.

Coach Keopple

Armo
: An area where you do have a lot of experience returning is in the secondary. I was wondering if you could talk about what that allows you to do defensively going into this season?

: Coach, once again, I want to thank you for taking time to discuss Southern Arkansas football with me, and I want to wish you and the Muleriders good luck with the upcoming season.

Coach Keopple
: I sure appreciate that, I appreciate you having me on. Anytime we can talk about Southern Arkansas football, I love to talk about it. Things are really moving in the right direction here in Southern Arkansas, and right now our football team is on a solid foundation.
