SNU recap:
While SNU had their worse offensive performance, they did a good job defensively and were still in the game at halftime against ATU, only being down 14-7. Turnovers and sacks continue to plague the offense. Defensively, SNU has a decent run defense, but they give up a lot of passing yards.

Thoughts and prayers go out to ATU that they have safe travels and no one gets hurt, because while we hope for the best, there is no way ATU is going to hang with a McNeese team that went toe-to-toe with the Nebraska Cornhuskers in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Game to Watch

Southwestern Oklahoma v. Arkansas-Monticelloth at 6pm
Background: Since GAC play began in 2011, SWOSU leads the series 2-1. The home team has won each game in this series so far, with UAM winning the first game, but SWOSU winning the last two meetings. This season UAM is vying for the title of Heartbreak Kids. The Boll Weevils have lost their first three games by a combined 13 points all late in the game. SWOSU appears to be vying for the title of Cardiac Kids as they have had to mount fourth quarter comebacks the past two weeks to stave off defeat.

Defense
Offense: The offense has talent, but play has been lackluster to date. Quarterback play has been especially problematic. For example, during the SAU game SWOSU changed quarterbacks. While the substitute quarterback managed to move the offense, it came with mixed results. On the one hand the substitute quarterback put up some decent passing numbers, on the other he threw two interceptions, one for a pick six. The offensive line needs to do a better job of pass protection. Last year they gave up only 15 sacks and they are already at 8. Run blocking has also been bad, only allowing the offense to average just 76.7 yards per game. The surprising fact is that this is the same veteran-led offensive line from last year.
