16. Lock Haven
Record: (0-6 overall, 0-3 PSAC West)
Analysis: Outlook:15. Cheyney
Record: (1-5 overall, 0-3 PSAC East)
Analysis: The Wolves opened their season by defeating rival Lincoln for the second straight year, but as in 2011, its been the highpoint. Results since then have been pretty dismal. Cheyney scored 34 points in the opener but have averaged just 10 points over the last five contests. The Wolves are tenth in the PSAC in rushing offense and ninth in passing defense. In every other team category, they are last or next to last. The passing game has thrown twice as many interceptions (6) as touchdowns (3). Only Lock Haven has fewer total touchdowns. The Wolves also hurt themselves with penalties, having committed the second most in the conference. Time of possession would appear to be a strength (31:47 per game, third in the PSAC) but the reality is that opponents score so quickly and easily that the ball goes right back to the Wolves.
Outlook:14. Millersville
Record: (1-5 overall, 0-3 PSAC East)
Analysis: The Marauders started off the season with a big 41-17 win over West Virginia Wesleyan. At the time, it looked like it could be a statement victory. Wesleyan has been a good team in recent years and the Marauders played very well in the upset . Transfer QB Ted Schachitas looked good rushing and throwing, the defense made some stops and the outcome was exactly what they needed. That all seems like a very long time ago now.
Since the week one victory, Millersville has not scored more than 14 points in a game. The offense has not been able to establish much running or throwing and is one of just three units in the conference averaging less than 300 total yards per game. Freshman QB Connor Casey put up decent passing numbers against Bloomsburg , but Coach Colby is likely to go back to Stachitas when he returns from injury. The defense has been pounded by some of the better rushing offenses in the PSAC, exposing that the Marauders are still outmanned at the line of scrimmage.
Outlook: There is only one winnable game left on the schedule, and that is the week 7 matchup with Cheyney.
13. Gannon
Record: (1-5 overall, 0-3 PSAC West)
Analysis:Outlook: This season is pretty much assured to be a losing one, but Gannon can still pick up a couple of wins and take some momentum into the off season. Rzyczcyki is still a rookie head coach, and if he is able to bring in a full time defensive coordinator next year it may help him a lot. It would help me a lot if he had a nickname. Maybe Coach R. or Coach Brad?? Let's figure that out in the offseason and settle on something. Seriously, Krzyzewski is easier to spell.
12. Slippery Rock
Record: (2-4 overall, 1-2 PSAC West)
Analysis:Outlook:11. LIU Post
Record: (2-3 overall, 1-2 PSAC East)
Analysis:Outlook: 10. Clarion
Record: (3-3 overall, 1-2 PSAC West)
Analysis:Outlook: If Clarion can put together complete games, where the offense and defense shine on the same day, they can win a few more games. There are some tough opponents left on the schedule and the Eagles may need at least one upset to finish above .500 but it is within their reach.
9. East Stroudsburg
Record: (3-2 overall, 2-1 PSAC East)
