Slippery Rock Hammers rival IUP Quick HitsHuskies win Homecoming, Quiteh named KingQuick Hits
-Franklyn Quiteh had a streak of 22 consecutive games with 100+ yards rushing snapped. Quiteh suffered a minor shoulder injury and was parked after just 8 carries. Both Quiteh and head coach Paul Darragh indicated he could have played in the second half if needed.
-Quiteh was named homecoming king during the halftime ceremonies. He looked thrilled.

The Golden Bears are finally in the win column in the 2013 season. The 35-19 win was also the first in the head coaching career of Drew Folmer. The Golden Bears finally found a running game with 224 yards on 44 carries. Cheyney trailed 35-6 early in the third quarter but closed the gap to 16 points before running out of time for a comeback. All things considered, I expected the Bears to win this more comfortably, but they did get the win.
Quick HitsLakers earn first conference victory of the season with win at Seton Hill
Both teams started new quarterbacks in this first meeting between the programs. Mercyhurst starter Anthony Vendemia sat this one out due to injury, but junior Alec Swartz filled in beautifully. In his first career start, Swartz connected on 12 of 16 passes for 168 yards and three touchdowns. Seton Hill turned to Rafal Garcarz to run their offense. Garcarz is actually a wide receiver and is credited with 10 catches this season. Considering that, he played pretty darn well. He completed 19 of 30 for 193 yards, 1 touchdown and no interceptions. Perhaps the Griffins found something with Garcarz, even if by accident.
Quick Hits
-There were some small victories for Seton Hill in this game. The Griffins tallied 392 total yards (182 rushing, 210 passing). They also had 21 first downs.
-Three different Lakers had more than 80 yards rushing (Brown-Dukes, Jones, Robinson)
-Mercyhurst has scored more points in the last two games than they did in the first four. This can happen when you play Cheyney and Seton Hill in consecutive weeks
Clarion drops third straight after 3-0 startQuick HitsShippensburg shuffles to victory at Lock HavenQuick Hits
-Blair Brooks had a career high 145 yards rushing and teammate Trevor Harman had 15 receptions for 122 yards.
-Lock Haven lost starting QB Dylon Mazzoni to injury. Freshman Caleb Walton was a very decent 15-22-206 and 1 TD in relief.
We are now officially past halfway in the 2013 season, so things are really taking shape in the conference races. We have a rare Thursday night match up this week with Gannon and Mercyhurst meeting a neutral site. It is sure to be a great event for the football fans in Erie. I'll have a preview later this week.
