Zulli showcases Harlon Hill talent for national audienceRaiders play Shut-down DOne more shoutoutQuiteh Injured
If you were watching, you saw Franklyn Quiteh injure his shoulder late in the game. Of all things, it happened throwing a block. Quiteh was in obvious pain immediately after, and as of now, the extent of his injury and his status for the rest of the season has not been confirmed.
Looking ahead
The Huskies took a beating on Thursday, but the reality is that win, lose or draw, the outcome of that game does not change the situation for this coming week. The winner of the Bloom-West Chester game will claim the east division and host the championship game next weekend. This will be a very tough loss to get over, but the Huskies still have all of their goals in front of them so if they can rebound, they can still put themselves in position to win a championship.
Playoff worthy? Slippery Rock takes control of PSAC WestGolden Rams roll to victory with backup Quarterback
Andrew Derr started at quarterback in relief of the injured Sean McCartney and led a balanced attack that posted 236 rushing yards and 297 passing yards. Derr was decent, hitting 13 of 23 for 293 yards and 3 touchdowns. Overall, the West Chester coaches probably got what they wanted. They got in a good workout, and poured it on after a little bit of slow start. The got some important players out of the game early and can now start preparing for Bloomsburg.
For the second straight week, Cheyeny did a very commendable job against one of the most elite running backs in the country. Rondell White did go over 100 yards (103) but it did take 22 carries to get there for a 4.7 ypc average.
IUP Runs over Clarion for second straight win
The Crimson Hawks scored in all four quarters and ran for 277 yards in a very convincing 42-14 win in Clarion. IUP was able to work three quarterbacks into the game and seven different players contributed to the rushing attack. IUP won the turnover battle 2-0 and had nearly a five minute advantage in time of possession. For Clarion, the loss was the fifth in their last six games.
No Fight from Scots on rainy day in Erie
I never like to see the regular season wind down, but one of the good things about this year drawing to a close is that I can stop trying to figure out Mercyhurst. The Lakers have been the model of inconsistency since week 1, but at times, they have shown us why the PSAC West coaches thought highly enough of them to pick them second in the preseason poll. This past Saturday was one of those times. The Lakers handled the elements and the Fighting Scots by rushing through the rain and wind for 266 yards. Senior Allen Jones led the way with 148 yards on 21 carries. Defensively, Hurst held Edinboro to 148 yards of total offense, and a dismal 1.3 yards per carry on the ground.
