The latest round of regional top 10 for the Division II Football Championship was released this afternoon. As a reminder, the top seven teams will make the playoffs. Earned Access can be a factor if a conference's highest ranked team is 8th. In that case, the 8th ranked team would be granted the 7th bid. Here is how they committee ranked the top 10 in Super Region 1, along with my thoughts. The championship field will be announced on Sunday evening.
1. California (9-0) 2. Shepherd (9-0)3. LIU Post (10-0) 4. Fairmont State (9-1)5. IUP (8-1)6. Assumption (9-1) 7. Edinboro (8-2)8. Notre Dame College (8-2) Notre Dame has had a great season, but I think they need too much help to make it. Realistically, the only team that I think they can jump is Edinboro and the Fighting Scots are not going to lose to Cheyney. Even if they did, the CIAA champ is likely going to jump to either 7th or 8th to take the last spot in the bracket.
9. Bowie State (7-2) Bowie State has to win the CIAA Championship this Saturday against WSSU. If they do, they might climb to 7th and make the playoffs on merit. If they make it to 8th they will make the bracket due to earned access. If they lose, they will not be a factor.
10. Winston-Salem State (8-2)NR: Kutztown (7-3)
