Mars Hill Catawba never led. The Indians scored points on six possessions. Mars Hill immediately answered four of those scoring drives with points of their own. I think that went a long way for the Lions. It helped them to keep momentum from swinging to the other side and allowed them to maintain the lead. The other thing that stood out to me is how much better they were on 3rd down. They came through on 10 of 16 3rd down chances and once on fourth down. That had been a problem area for them earlier in the season.

There were a lot of big stats from this game, but overall I was impressed by how Mars Hill got off the deck, shook off the 0-3 start and came prepared to play their best football. I watched the full replay this morning and they were impressive. They set the tone early and played at a high level all day. They really needed a performance like that and it could change the course of their season. Well done, Lions.

Limestone Shake up at the Top

Carson-Newman, the pre-season favorite to win the SAC, backed up that nomination with a big win over Wingate last week. Their week four road trip took them to Newberry, where the Eagles have not been very successful in recent years. Their last three trips to Setzler Field resulted in lopsided losses. You can now add another one to the list.
