Another week of the Division II football playoffs has occurred. We said good bye to another top tier team in this ridiculous system. For my full thoughts on that you can read my previous two blogs.

This past week was like watching your girlfriend and a hotter girl in a pudding wrestling competition. At the beginning it was too much for your brain to handle at once. At one point you forgot who you were rooting for. There was some disappointment with it not reaching expectations. And all you ended up with was a huge mess.

On the floor pervert, what'd you think I was going to say? In your pants? OK there too.

North Alabama's playoff run was once again cut short by Delta State. What's even more depressing is in the three years Terry Bowden has been at UNA, I have picked them to win the national championship. In all three years they haven't even won the region.

It should be noted in these previous three years I have also declared myself eligible for the NFL Draft and voted for Jersey Shore for best show on television on all award shows.

Now I never played college football. Nor am I a member of any organization that makes my vote valid.

But one could argue, if Bowden can't win a championship with the players he has accumulated at UNA, perhaps he's just as unqualified for his job.

If the definition of crazy is to keep doing something and expecting a different result, then Bowden is just that.

You can have all the talent in the world but it doesn't mean you are going to win. This Reject Transfer University that they are running in Florence, Alabama isn't working. Simple as that. They have been twice as talented as most teams at this level and have very little to show for it.

I thought you could win the way they had been doing it. But if this 2011 version couldn't get it done, it can't be done. Not in the transfer world. This year was the perfect blend of players returning and big names coming in.

This was the time.

They blew it.

But somebody had to beat them. That somebody just happened to be the Delta State Statesmen. Who have rarely been the sexy pick, the trendy pick, the up and coming pick or the different pick of late.

What they have been is the consistent pick. They know how to get to this point in the season. They never panic nor get too high with emotion. Ron Roberts has quietly gone about his business year after year, doing his thing. Now he has a chance to get to another national championship game.

A statement was made by these men of the state (see what I did there?). They shellacked their in-conference rival UNA last weekend in embarrassing fashion, 42-14. The team that lost to West Georgia is dead. They died that day.

The team that let teams hang around is gone as well. So too is the underachieving offense that compiled 466 yards of total offense against the Lions. As well as the non existent rushing attack that reeled off 252 yards on the ground and three touchdowns.

The careless Micah Davis also isn't on the playoff roster. The senior tossed three touchdowns without an interception against an essentially FBS secondary a week ago.

What DSU told me last week is that they knew they would get back here. They knew that as long as they got here things would change. This is when it all matters most and they know how to get it done.

Which is why it pains me to say that I am picking DSU to walk all over North Greenville this weekend.

We know my history of believing and not believing in DSU. The opposite always happens.

Saturday 2 pm North Greenville at Delta State

My thoughts for this game can be summed up at the :14 mark of the following video:

The end. Gigs up. Good night.

All I see on the D2Football.com message boards is:

We won't doubt you North Greenville
Nothing but respect for you North Greenville
You guys really seem to be a program on the rise

Shut up.

This is Delta Mother F'in State here people.

This isn't some decent football team that hasn't been here before. Stop paying false respect to an adversary that has never played anything other than pocket pool this time of the year.

Delta State is used to this. This is business as usual. This is what they do. They play for titles. Annually.

I understand saying nice things and showing some respect for your opponent, but come on. Let's get real. None of you GSC fans believe DSU will lose this weekend. None of you. If you do you're as delusional as Jerry Sandusky's legal team.

Congrats on getting here North Greenville. I sincerely mean then. I don't doubt that you can keep it close because it is playoff football. But sit back and enjoy the show this week. DSU is going to show you how real men play football.

North Greenville sports a high powered offense that jumps out to a lead and continues extending it. They don't pull off the accelerator when up big and their stats have been padded because of that. They are not nearly as intimidating as you think.

This team has yet to face a defense that possess the speed and size combo that DSU brings to the table. They get to the quarterback and force turnovers as good as anybody in the nation.

It's going to take Willy Korn two quarters to figure out how he and the rest of the Crusaders can avoid Xavier Triplett. This DSU defense will be in the the North Greenville secondary all day long. Robbie Mayers, Robert Hogan, Rob Hoskins live in opposing backfields. These guys have been unsung heroes on the defense all year and don't get the sexy accolades some others do.

This is the most disruptive unit the Crusaders have seen all year. They are not perfect by any means. I fully expect to see large yardages compiled by the Crusaders. DSU has always been susceptible to that. But limiting the scores near and in the red zone will be vital for the Statesmen.

They are great at bowing their neck when times get tough. It's now time to sacrifice the steak dinner so you can pay the electric bill. You don't have to go for the gusto every time. Do it appropriately, when you can afford to. But always remember to have an emergency plan in place to make sure the lights are on.

That is essentially who this team is on defense.

Offensively, I'd expect Micah Davis, Brandon Lucas and Chance Dennis to ball out. Why? Because that's what seniors do in big spots. These three are as good as you will find at making big plays. It's safe to say North Greenville will not be able to contain all three.

Prediction: Delta State over North Greenville 35-21
