"The Wild Weekend" for Morehouse and Albany State University
Last Week's Game of the week, The 76th Meeting (Classic Wise) of Tuskegee University vs Morehouse. Tuskegee led for most of the game, many fans stated, "looks like we are going to get more of the same" my comment was "just wait and see, this is Morehouse year". The key to this game was ball control (especially in the second half). Morehouse now has a competent runner in Mr. David Carter (29 carries for 99 Yards) as in this game, he will help Morehouse in the playoffs maintain control of the game. This was the only contest this year, he has not gained 100 yards or more, his average /game is 137.5 yards. Coach Richard Freeman has this team believing in his overall philosophy. Tuskegee Head Coach Willie Slater took this loss hard, my words to him after the game "stay strong" TU will play spoiler the rest of the season. TU has lost four games by a total of 33 points; TU is playing with a new Defensive Coordinator this year and are improving with every game. They will return with a vengeance. This year though, belongs to the Maroon Tigers as they are clicking on all cylinders and will be a formable force for every team they play. Final score Morehouse 17 vs TU 14
Game of the Week--Albany State University vs Morehouse College
It is a pre-version of the SIAC Championship Game or even a first match-up for the playoffs. This game extends farther than an opportunity to play for the 2011 Inaugural SIAC Championship and has more implications. Both teams should make the playoffs, however the score and play will determine regional ranking. ASU is down after a devastating defeat by Lane College in Jackson, TN and the Maroon Tigers of Morehouse are still celebrating their win against Tuskegee. At least their fans are still celebrating, as far as Head Coach Richard Freeman and the team goes, they are buckling down to a serious week of practice. Head Coach Mike White (ASU), who runs the defense and offensive coordinator Uyl Joyner will have a couple of surprises for the visitors to the "Good Life City". I was told last night, D2 voters will be in Albany Saturday night, as one or both of these teams are destin for post-season play. ASU in a close game that goes to the wire: ASU-28 vs Morehouse 25
Players to watch Morehouse: David Carter (RB), Byron Ingram (QB), Elijah Anderson (LB), Brandon Houston (LB), Charlie Wilson (LB), and Justin Oliver (DB)
Players to watch: - ASU-Stanley Jennings (QB), Nathan Hoyte (RB), Orion Ponder (KR), Octavius Staton (WR), Antorio Wells (DL), Justin Blash (DL)
The rest of the SIAC. Stillman will be the team to beat in the west division. Tuskegee, Clark-Atlanta University and Fort Valley State University now settle for the role of spoiler as both teams fight to recover to finish at .500. It is crunch time in the East Division and the fans will see some exciting football the rest of the season.
The rest of the Conference Predictions:
Fort Valley State University 14 vs. Bethune-Cookman University-42
FVSU still has a good team, but are outmatched in this one
Lane 14 vs Tuskegee 30
Lane is brought back to reality, after a big win against Albany State University in the previous week
Stillman College 27 vs Chowan 10
Stillman continues to add superlatives to their phenomenal season
Clark-Atlanta 28 vs Benedict-22
Clark wins a close one in Columbia
Miles-30 vs Kentucky State University 14 Miles always play hard at home

#1Guest commented10-13-2011, 05:03 PMEditing a commentMorehouse learned a very important concept, "FINISH"! I believe Coach Freeman and his staff will prepare and motivate the Maroon Tigers and return the favor from last year to ASU. The Maroon Tiger defense will play a great game and slow down the ASU offense and the Maroon Tiger offense will have over 300 yards of total offense. Final Score: Morehouse 31 - ASU 17
