In another thrilling game, the Mules won the Battle of the Centrals in a game that had 1214 yards of offense. Both teams had two-score leads in the 4th quarter after there was somehow no score after the first quarter, and only 10-7 in favor of UCM at the half. Despite not having their #1 QB and RB, the Bronchos rolled up over 600 yards of offense for the second straight week, and did it against the third ranked defense entering the game. The Mules had a lot of trouble stopping the big play, as UCO had touchdown scoring plays of 24, 71, 55, 59, 49, and 19 yards. The Mules were a little more methodical until the 4th quarter, when RB Markel Smith had a 30 yard TD run to take the lead 39-35, and QB Garrett Fugate iced the game with an 87 yard TD run with 56 seconds left.

#5 Northwest Missouri St. (7-0) 31
#20 Pittsburg St. (4-3) 14rd and 14, but that was as close as Pitt would get the rest of the way. Northwest held the second ranked Pitt offense to 175 total yards, and forced five Thomas LePage turnovers (4 INT, 1 Fumble). The Gorilla defense fared much better in the second half, holding the Bearcats to just three points, and only allowing one third down conversion (by penalty) out of seven tries in the second half.

While Washburn might have a two-game edge in the standings, these two teams have got to be the two most evenly matched teams of the week. UCO has really come on as of late, especially on the offensive side of the ball with back to back weeks of 600+ yards. Washburn looked very good in St. Joseph last week, and will be looking to continue to build toward next year.

The Bronchos offensive punch has really come on since TJ Eckert took over the starting role from Chas Stallard, as he has thrown for 353 and 421 yards in his two starts. Clay McKenzie is third in the league in rushing, averaging 106 yards per game. They will be going up against the 3rdrdthLindenwood (2-5) at Missouri Southern St. (1-6) (Homecoming) 2:37PM
MIAA TV Game of the WeekSuper Region 3 Playoff Watch

There are only six teams in Super Region 3 with less than two losses, meaning we are guaranteed at least one two loss team making the playoffs. With MWSU and PSU both losing, they are effectively out, leaving NWMSU, ESU, UCM, and FHSU still alive. After crunching the numbers, here is how I have what the regional rankings would be for each of the SR3 teams with 2 or less losses through Week 7 (future opponents do not factor into the equation).

Eighteen teams are still alive for the playoffs entering this week, and at the very least, that number will be down to 16 after Saturday.
