The Ichabods hung tough for the first half, trailing only 18-0 at the half, but the Bearcats were able to roll up well over 500 yards of offense behind another personal best passing day by Brady Bolles, who finished with 402 yards and 3 TDs. Other than one play where they gave up a 30 yard TD on 4th and 24, the defense was once again dominant and held their 4th opponent to under 200 yards of offense on the day, and 10th opponent under 300 yards. Northwest went unbeaten in the regular season, and the Ichabods ended up on the wrong side of .500 at 5-6.

The winless Lopers did not go down without a fight in this one, as a missed extra point was the only difference in a 21-20 first half. Ultimately, however, Brent Wilson and Co. did their thing and used a big 3rdth TD of the day three plays later to put the Hornets up 45-27. Emporia finishes the regular season in second place at 9-2, and the UNK season ends without a win.

The Tigers ran all over the Mules, who had the second best run defense in the conference entering the game. However, the 326 yards given up on the ground knocked the UCM defense down to third at the end of the season. The Tiger defense also had a banner day, holding the Mules to 268 yards of offense, their worst offensive output of the year. No other team held the Mules under 300 yards. The Tiger defense was led by MIAA DPOW DB Doyin Jibowu, who had two interceptions and a sack to go along with his 5 tackles. The Tigers improved to 8-3 on the season to continue their streak of increasing their win total over the previous year by one to five consecutive years. The Mules dropped to 8-3 and were eliminated from the postseason.

The MIAA announced its All-MIAA TeamThe Postseason

As I mentioned earlier, four teams are still playing in 2015. Northwest Missouri St. and Emporia St. were selected for the playoffs. Northwest earned the top seed and a first round bye, so they are off this week and will host the winner of the game between Augustana at Humboldt St. My quick take is that this game would equate to a game between 2015 ESU and 2006 Chadron St.

The Hornets will be traveling up to Mankato, Minnesota, to take on a very good Minnesota St. team. Matt Witwicki, the NSIC Columnist, and I collaborated on the preview for this game, which you can read here.

With their win over the Mules, the Tigers earned a trip to their first Mineral Water Bowl on December 5ththth.
