Missouri Western State 14th quarter to get the Griffons into Hornet territory, Dickerson intercepted MWSU Corey Bertini and returned the ball back 55 yards to the Griffon 26 yard line with two and a half minutes left to go in the game. The Hornets ran out the clock to seal the win from there.

Defenses have played largely better over the past few weeks, and this game ended up being the 3rd lowest scoring game of the year so far. It also marked just the 6th time this year that both teams finished with less than 30 points, as each team ended up with their lowest scoring output on the year. The Bearcats were held to less than 40 points for the first time all year, and the Tiger defense frustrated NWMSU QB into his worst game of the season to date; he was held to just 174 passing yards and one touchdown, and threw his first two interceptions on the year. Still, it was nowhere near enough because as much trouble as the Tiger defense gave the Bearcat offense, the Bearcat defense flat out dominated the Tiger offense. Starting Tiger QB Jacob Mezera was knocked out of the game after going 0-3 and one interception, and backup QB Brad Schencker was held to just 150 yards with one TD and one INT. The Bearcats held the Tigers to just 47 yards rushing, and blocked two field goals to keep Fort Hays in single digits, although they did play the Bearcats closer than any other team has so far this year.

The Gorillas used a big second quarter to over come a 14-7 deficit, leading at the half 31-21. Instead of the game continuing in a shootout, however, the Gorilla defense adjusted at halftime and held the Lopers scoreless in the second half. The Gorillas rumbled for 308 yards rushing on the day, with QB John Roderique, Jr. leading the way with 87 yards and two TDs on 14 carries. He also added 276 yards passing with 2 TDs and an interception in the blowout. The Lopers could only manage 39 yards rushing for the game, and used three different quarterbacks to pass for 300 yards and two interceptions. The two teams each had two plays of over 50 yards in the passing game, but the Lopers had trouble generating much else.

This will be the 49thth) much better than they run it (11th), although they have shown improvement in that capacity recently. Still, they rank 11thth worst defense in all of D2, and Pitt just has too many weapons for the Lions to account for. The Lions may put up a few points in this one, but I think the Gorillas put up a lot more.

#2Go Hornets! commented11-12-2016, 08:04 PMEditing a comment#1-5 all won today and with APU and Henderson St losing, I gotta believe the Mules are in for sure. So Ark is probably in for sure too. Never know - we'll see tomorrow... Great way to end the season for ESU! Higgins got the Gatorade bath and the Hornets are in position to host a playoff game for the first time since 1989. Great day to be a Hornet!
