Statement wins for GVSU, Ferris State, Saginaw Valley State, and Wayne State, a tough down to the wire defeat for Ashland, a couple of disappointing road losses for Northwood and Northern Michigan, and a solid road win for Michigan Tech rounds out our week one action in the GLIAC. Oh, and how could I forget, the only GLIAC game involving an NAIA squad saw Davenport defeated Robert Morris (IL) 44-7.

IUP used to be the Indians back in the day, until the NCAA issued that decree that said that no NCAA college team could have Native Americans as their mascots. IUP was one of the schools forced to change. Then they picked Crimson Hawks for some reason, and then it turns out there was cartoon porn where the main character was named Crimson Hawk.
