Recap of Week 11 in the Lone Star Conference
ENMU finished up the season in fine fashion by beating Texas A&M Commerce and earning the top spot in my final conference rankings. They played great football in the 2nd half of the season. ENMU and Tarleton took home a share of the LSC crown this year. However, ENMU and Tarleton did not qualify for the 24-team playoff field. West Texas A&M was the only LSC team to make the playoffs.

Week 7 Recap:
Incarnate Word (FCS) v. Angelo State
Final Score: Angelo State 7 Incarnate Word 0
Takeaways: Angelo State played great through the 2nd portion of the season and showed that they are clearly not the bottom feeder of the LSC. They took a great coaching scheme and exploited defenses and picked up several wins along the way. Too bad they could not do this at the start of the season. They would have finished above .500 and been a real contender for the LSC crown.

Texas A&M Commerce v. Eastern New Mexico
Final Score: Eastern New Mexico 42 Texas A&M Commerce 35

I was fairly close on the prediction of this game. I felt that the hounds were playing very well and have been dominating. I expected the score to be a little more spread but the Lions matched the hounds all game long. ENMU jumped out to an early lead but Commerce responded with 2 TDs of their own. Commerce took a 1 TD lead into halftime and did not come out of the locker room fast enough because they gave up 2 TDs in the 3rd and did not score. They then matched TDs with ENMU in the 4thTakeaways: Lots of points were scored in this game and the Lions and Hounds have nothing to be ashamed of by having one of their best years in a very long time. Congrats to both of these outstanding football teams and coaching staffs. What an amazing accomplishment by ENMU to be co-champions in the LSC and go on a 6 game winning streak, while beating 2 ranked opponents in back-to-back weeks. What an accomplishment!

Texas A&M Kingsville v. Valdosta State
Final Score: Valdosta State 35 Texas A&M Kingsville 27

The Javelinas jumped out to an early 2nd quarter lead over the Blazers going up 17 to 0. Valdosta quickly answered with 2 of their own TDs, one coming on a pick 6. The Javelinas took a slim 17 to 14 lead into the half. After the half, Kingsville kicked an early FG to extend their lead to 20. The Blazers drove the ball down to take their first lead with a TD and a 21 to 20 lead. However, the Javelinas responded with a 49 yard TD pass to Armstrong and regained the lead at 27 to 21. Unfortunately, the 4th quarter was all Blazers as they scored 2 early 4th quarter TDs to win this one.

Takeaways:th.

Game of the Week: Tarleton State v. North Alabama
Final Score: North Alabama 44 Tarleton State 7
nd half and extended the lead to 17 to 0. Tarleton finally answered with their only score of the game coming on a 19 yards pass. The rest of the game was all UNA Lions. They took full control of this game and came out on top. UNA racked up 501 yards on the Tarleton defense and TSU could only muster 290 total yards of offense.

Takeaways:
Tarleton was dominated by UNA all game long and could not get anything going on the ground or through the air. Unfortunately, this loss kept them out of the playoffs. They did take home a piece of the LSC crown.

Game of the Year: Midwestern State v. West Texas A&M
Final Score: WTAMU 19 Midwestern 12

Was this game all it lived up to be? I think it was. I expected the score to be a lot higher but did not know the wind would be howling like it was. I sat out in this game and it was extremely windy, which did not help either team pass the ball. Who knew that this many FGs would be scored in this game? It seemed that mostly through this game that it would be decided on FGs. WT really held the MSU run game in check all game and made turnovers at the most optimal time. The game started out with exchanging FGs and WT going into half with a 9 to 3 lead. The teams came out in the 3rd and MSU scored an additional FG, making the score 9 to 6 in favor of WT. The 4thTakeaways: MSU had a rough day running the ball on WT and finished the season with a 7-3 record and the end to the Keidrick Jackson era. WT really stepped up and made some big plays and played great special teams to win this game. WT also made the playoffs as the only LSC team to earn a postseason bid.
