First Round of Playoffs
Harlon Hill Watch in the Lone Star Conference
Dustin Vaughn, QB, WTAMU and Keidrick Jackson, RB, Midwestern are both named as candidates for the Harlon Hill Award. Both of these individuals have had standout seasons.
There are 28 candidates that are listed as candidates, below are all the candidates from Super Region 4:
Selected from Super Regional 4 are junior quarterback Chris Bonner of Colorado State University, Pueblo, senior tailback Glen Clinton of Chadron State College (Neb.), sophomore running back Daiquone Ford of the University of Findlay (Ohio), senior running back Keidrick Jackson of Midwestern State University (Texas), senior quarterback Jonathon Jennings of Saginaw Valley State University (Mich.), sophomore quarterback Jason Vander Laan of Ferris State University (Mich.) and senior quarterback Dustin Vaughan of West Texas A&M.
Playoff Thoughts:
What a way to end the season with so much on the line. Unfortunately, Tarleton fell in their last game and did not make the playoffs. West Texas was the only team selected from the LSC to be in the playoffs.
- For everyone that is out of the loop: Northwest Missouri and Minnesota-Mankato are the clear favorites to make a run and win the National Title this year.
- The other Super Region 4 game has Grand Valley playing Saginaw Valley at Laker Stadium for the 2nd straight week. Talk about bad luck.
NCAA PLAYOFFS - ROUND 1
WEST TEXAS A&M VS. INDIANAPOLIS
November 23 @ 11 AM CST
Key Stadium
Indianapolis, Indiana
#17/19 West Texas A&M @ #9/10 Indianapolis: Saturday, November 23 at 11 a.m. CST Kickoff
Indianapolis, IN Key Stadium
The Buffaloes come into this game after a big win over Midwestern State that was similar to a playoff style game and atmosphere. The buffs were in a must-win situation to make the playoffs. Indianapolis comes in with a close win over Truman State. Both teams were in the playoffs last season with Indy beating Midwestern and losing to CSU-Pueblo and WT beating Chadron, Ashland, and CSU-Pueblo and losing to Winston-Salem State. Both of these crews are very happy to be in the playoffs and have their season extended one more week.
Weather Factor: 32 F with 10 mph wind
Everyone keeps talking about the weather being a factor against WT. The buffs have played great in the playoffs and always practice in cold temperatures. The only way that I see weather being a factor is if it is extremely wet or winds over 30 mph. WT will be fine with the cold weather and so will Indy.
Indy has been lead by QB Chris Mills but Mills went down several weeks ago with an injury and the second string QB Connor Barthel has come in and played great football. Mills may be back for this game after the injury. The other workhorse for the Greyhounds is Klay Fiechter. He has amassed 1,134 yards on the ground this season. Mills and Barthel have passed for a total of 2,415 yards with only 9 INTs.
