LIVE UNITED TEXARKANA BOWL

TEXAS A&M COMMERCE vs. HARDING

December 13 @ 6 PM CST

Razorback Stadium

Texarkana, Arkansas

Texas A&M Commerce (7-4) v. Harding (8-2): Friday, December 13 at 6 p.m. CST Kickoff
Texarkana, AR

The Live United Texarkana Bowl postseason game by the Commerce Lions will mark their first postseason appearance game since 1995. That marks an 18-year postseason drought for the Lions that will come to an end today. I would have to say that this season marks a turning point for the Commerce football program, under new head coach Colby Carthel. What a great season to send these seniors out on. I have a lot of respect for what this team has accomplished this season and how well they have adjusted with their new coach and style of play. Commerce comes in with a 3-0-1 mark in bowl games. They will hope to continue their unblemished record by coming out strong against Harding. The last game that Commerce played a postseason matchup was when they were still called East Texas State. The game was in 1995 in the first round of the Division 2 playoffs and they fell to Portland State.

Weather: High of 49 F, Low of 29 F with a 10% chance of rain

Prediction: Texas A&M Commerce 38 Harding 33

West Texas A&M Collapses in 2nd Half; Despite 2 TD lead at Halftime

Grand Valley State 35 West Texas A&M 28 Final

West Texas jumped all over the Lakers from opening going all the way into halftime. The buffaloes went in with a 2 TD lead. They were able to rack up almost 300 yards in the passing game in the first half. However, the 2nd half would be a different story. WT could not find their rhythm or anything for that matter. They came out lethargic and were dealt a killer blow by being held out.

Takeaways: The WT offense was clicking on all cylinders in the first half. The same thing happened this week that happened in the Tarleton State game. WT came out of the 2
nd half with a lead and did absolutely nothing. They have been prone at doing this during the season and it ended up leading to their ultimate demise and defeat. And so ends the Dustin Vaughn era at West Texas A&M and this large senior class that has weathered a lot during these last two seasons. They have played well and took WT to new heights, even when no one thought that they would do that well this season and last season.

The Harlon Hill Award

The final three Harlon Hill candidates have been announced and like I stated much throughout the season, Dustin Vaughn has made the final three.
Finalists:

Franklyn Quiteh, Bloomsberg, Running Back
2,195 rushing yards and 29 TDs

Kevin Rodgers, Henderson State, Quarterback
4,807 passing yards and 40 TDs

Dustin Vaughn, West Texas A&M, Quarterback
5,401 passing yards and 53 TDs

I feel strong that Dustin has a very good chance at winning this award.
