Live United Texarkana Bowl: Texas A&M Commerce v. Harding
Final Score: Harding 44 Texas A&M Commerce 3
I was way off on the weather for this game. I should have done a weather report closer to game time. I caught the majority of this game on the live stream. I will have to say that I was dead on about this game being fought in the trenches. However, Harding clearly dominated the battle in the trenches and ran the ball very effectively against Commerce. I was also absolutely right about Harding being ready for the Commerce passing game. They really stymied the Commerce passing game and offense by holding them to a season low of 100 total offensive yards. WOW! I knew the Harding defense was good and the real deal but they made me even more believers after seeing this game. Throw the good Harding defense some credit, mix in a game with a downpour of rain and the results are a big win for a running dominant team. Commerce could not throw the ball at all.
Takeaways: I was definitely wrong on a few items in this game, most certainly the weather. Commerce had no answer for the Harding run game and the few passes that Harding threw resulted in several big plays. I think my play of the game goes to the Harding WR Alex Finley with his amazing one-handed grab that was overthrown and he took it to the end zone. Both of these teams had great seasons and have many things to be proud of.
