Tarleton State Football Season Preview
We continue to the next team, the LSC Co-Champions of 2013, the Texans. This team made some major strides last season, especially at the beginning of the year.
Tarleton Information:
Head Coach: Cary Fowler
Returning Starters:
The Texans have several guys who started that are coming back on both sides of the ball. There was a lot of injuries last season so the younger players were asked to step up and become starters for the team later in the season. In all, there are 29 players who started at least three games for the Texans on offense, defense and special teams last season.
The Texan Offense: Air Raid
The Texan Defense: 4-2-5
2014 Tarleton Schedule:
nd game in a brutal first 2-game lineup.
.
Thoughts on the Upcoming Season:
As everyone knows, the Texans are the preseason favorite in the LSC. The Texans added a QB transfer from Memphis that should get some playing time with Strahan. I think the team will have a tough test opening up with WT and taking on Midwestern a couple weeks later. The teams main hit was at the QB position and losing Doyle and Fenske. Of course, there will be other holes to fill; including the departure of Jerome Regal. However, I have plenty of faith in Zach Henshaw. If Henshaw can stay healthy, he will be a great contributor to this Texan offense. He has been one of the better running backs to emerge over the past few seasons. Also, look for Clifton Rhodes to have a big year in his senior outing as he leads this very talented receiving core. The Texans have a good team and can compete with anyone in Division 2. They need to stay healthy throughout the season to have a fighting chance at another LSC title and a bid to the Division 2 Postseason.Tags: None
