Super Region 4
LSC: NCAA Playoffs Round 2:

Colorado State Pueblo (11-1) v. Midwestern State (10-1), 1 PM CST Kickoffst round bye. A surprise by several top-ranking teams in the region.

In their first trip back to the playoffs since 2012, the Mustangs will play host to the defending national champion Colorado State Pueblo Thunderwolves, which turns out to be their first meeting between the teams. CSUP has already played several LSC football schools throughout the past 5 seasons, including their developed rivalry between West Texas A&M. They have also played Angelo State in the recent years. Additionally, it just happens that their only loss this season comes at the hands of West Texas, a fellow LSC conference team to Midwestern State. I will be the first to admit this, Colorado State Pueblo is not the same team that lost in week 2 at West Texas.

The Mustangs only loss comes during the regular season to Texas A&M Commerce, that would later be avenged in the LSC tournament championship. The Mustangs only RMAC foe this season came in week 2 against Colorado Mesa in overtime; however, that was back in mid-September. Like CSUP in week 2, both of these teams have seen several changes and progression since that time.

Seeing both of these teams in person this season has me intrigued to see this matchup. I honestly have never thought about these 2 programs playing on the football field until this moment in time. Both teams have proven several things this season: overcoming adversity, doing what it takes each week to win and making the NCAA playoffs. Now, we are down to the final 16 teams in the nation of Division 2 football and someone has to come out on top at the end.

I still remember watching Cameron McDondle (#30) in his first season at running back in 2012 as CSUP opened the season with a Lone Star Conference foe. To iterate what McDondle has done in his career at CSUP would probably not do him justice. He has been a stellar leader for this program and has had a great senior. A champion caliber running back.
