C.H.A.M.P.S. Heart of Texas Bowl:

Eastern New Mexico (6-5) v. Arkansas Tech (8-3), 6 p.m. Kickoff
Copperas Cove, TX

The Eastern New Mexico Greyhounds will be headed to their first time ever post-season extravaganza. I have to say that it is definitely time that ENMU received their dues on getting a bowl game or headed into the playoffs. I want to wish them congratulation on this huge accomplishment. In reality, I thought they deserved to make the NCAA playoffs in 2013; however, an early season loss hurt those chances. That was the same year that they rattled off a 6-game winning streak to end the season and a share of the LSC title. They were the hot LSC team in the 2nd half of the season. The last time the team played in the post-season was when they were still an NAIA member in the early 1980s.

Unfortunately for the Hounds, this year they ended the season on a 3-game skid. This season had their share of ups and downs for the program, like several LSC schools. However, I would not call this season unsuccessful. I would say that it was a very productive year for the Greyhounds. The team is clearly not a bottom-feeder and belongs on the field with any other Division 2 Football team. So many good things have happened for this squad in the Josh Lynn era, too many to count. The team has an incredible group of seniors that should be proud of their accomplishments and all that have happened in their time with this program.
The ENMU Greyhounds will meet the Arkansas Tech Wonder Boys in their first contest amongst each other. To date, neither of these teams has played each other; and, per ENMU Athletics Department, ENMU has not played a team from the state of Arkansas in the last decade.

ATU is a run dominated offense in the GAC. On defense, the Wonder Boys are led by a dominating force that only allowed 19.82 points per game. Even the 3-losses by ATU were in a low scoring fashion, as no one really piled the points on this good defense. The ENMU offense will have to contend with the GAC defensive player of the year, LB Logan Genz and 2nd

Just a reminder, this game will be broadcasted on Fox Sports Go channel or via the internet at their website for Fox Sports Go. There will be no live stats.
