Coach Carrigan Comments about their 2016 Schedule:
Sul Ross is game 1 and that is the only thing we are concerned with going into the season. We are all anxious to play a different opponent.

Notable Transfers:

We have a few JUCO and 4 year transfers, but we are trying to build this program from the Texas high schools.

To the UTPB and LSC Fans: Thank you for all of your support in helping this program become a reality. Thank you for taking our players and coaches in as life-long teammates of the community. Thank you!

Thank you Coach Carrigan for your time and comments!

Thoughts on the Upcoming Season:

There are many debates that never seem to end when we discuss who would have better success: a brand new football program or a program that was resurrected. Looking and analyzing Permian Basin, I cannot help but wonder that same thing. Is this team committed and destined to being a powerhouse one day or will they be another formidable LSC team? Watching this inaugural UTPB season may not even get me close to answering that question or who this team will be once this season concludes.

The Falcons did right in choosing Justin Carrigan for their head coach. They got someone that has several years of experience (recent) in the Lone Star Conference. He is known for his high-powered offense at Tarleton State. The offensive units that he had on the field have put up gaudy yardage.

Like Coach Carrigan stated, the majority of their players will be high school graduates that are playing their first season of NCAA Division 2 Football. It will be intriguing to see how these young men handle the adversity of the game at the next level of football; especially moving into the more difficult parts of their schedule.

The defense had a great game last week and put an incredible amount of Tackles for Loss (14).
On the offensive side, they really did not dominate. They had 163 passing yards and 128 rushing yards. They managed to get the job done and score when it counted. This was on top of 2 lost fumbles and an INT.

    Arizona Christian (0-0) v. UT-Permian Basin (1-0), Saturday, 7p.m. Kickoff

    Odessa, Texas

UTPB looked really good last week against Sul Ross. Yea, Sul Ross is not a highly touted team; however, they were able to take care of business, nonetheless.
Freshman QB Kameron Mathis looked poised in his new role for the Falcons. He was able to put up 163 passing yards with 2 TDs; both to WR Kristian Brown. I think the biggest surprise was RB Brandon Infiesto. He averaged 6.4 rushing yards a carry and went to the century mark (102 yards) in his first game as a Falcon.
The UTPB defense was flying around with great intensity and made tons of plays in the backfield; creating havoc for Sul Ross. They will need to keep this intensity as their schedule revs up.

Prediction: UTPB 35 Arizona Christian 13
