LSC � Week 3 Already?

Well, we have hit the 3rd week of football and the season continues to get more and more interesting. Every time I do a blog/column post, I look back at the same week last season. It was between this week and week 4 that we lost one of our own. I definitely feel that this is worth mentioning, as we reflect and look back upon the loss and life of Robert Grays of Midwestern State Football. A young man that had so much ahead of him. I personally did not know Grays but have talked to several that speak to his character. Looking back on this moment, nearly a year later; I still feel in awe that the LSC lost a player in a game like this. You never see these moments coming and I will never forget, nor will the MSU Mustang Family. #BlessingsonyouRobert

#1 Texas A&M Commerce v. Eastern New Mexico: Saturday, September 15th 8PM
Portales, NMGame Analysis: Both of these teams are struggling right now. However, one of them is not having enough defense to slow anyone down and when they do, they cannot catch-up with their offense. This will be a good game and interesting one. I look to see the Lions bring in their 3rd win of the season.

Tarleton State v. West Texas A&M: Saturday, September 15th 6PM
Canyon, TXGame Analysis: I feel that this game will be a good test for both of these teams. In order to see just where they are at on the D2 spectrum and in the LSC. The Buffs are having success on the defense and some spark on offense. Overall, I think the explosiveness of the Texans offense will be too much to handle for the Bufaloes.

Even though I'm a Texas A&M-Kingsville alumnus, it's still so pleasing to see the LSC represented at the top by Texas A&M-Commerce. This is especially true when they're ranked above some of the perennial D2 powerhouse programs (e.g., Grand Valley State, NW Missouri State, Minnesota State, etc.). I'll never forget the misery felt at Javelina Stadium when Coach Brian Kelly and the Lakers gobsmacked the Javs in the 2003 NCAA D2 National Semi-finals. It was great to see the Lions win it all in 2017.
