Angelo State v. #7 Midwestern State: Saturday, September 22nd 7 PM
Wichita Falls, TX

Midwestern State comes into this game, appearing to be the team to beat in the LSC; if not, the Nation of Division 2 Football. The Rams enter with two wins over Western Oregon and TX A&M Kingsville. ASU has won against 2 teams that have a combined record with only 1 win. MSU has already taken on a ranked West Florida team and a decent Humboldt State team. Two teams on very different platforms. Agree or Disagree; but, I believe that QB Preston Rabb is the best player in the LSC and possibly top 5 in D2. His passing ability, coupled with his elusiveness really puts him a leap above many others. ASU RB Tyrese Nathan received 29 touches last week for the Rams, as the team racked up 208 rushing yards (Nathan, 119 rush yards).

The MSU Offense just appears to have so many playmakers, compared to other teams. Here is a few to name: RB Vincent Johnson, QB Layton Rabb, RB Adrian Seales, WR Juwan Johnson, WR Xavier Land and WR Anthony Tennison; just to name a few.

QB Payne Sullins looked decent last week against the Javelinas. The brightspot last week for the Rams: The Rush Defense. They held the Javelinas to 63 yards on 40 attempts (1.6 avg per rush). Additionally, they only gave up 3.7 yards per pass. Not bad defense!

Game Analysis: This week we are going to learn exactly what kind of team that Angelo State is. They have 2 wins, so far; but, nothing to write home about. Defense and the rushing unit look stellar last week. I really believe that this Midwestern team is top 5 right now in the country, at this very minute. I struggle to see the Rams on the same level right now. I will take the Mustangs by 2 scores.

#22 Colorado State - Pueblo v. #1 Texas A&M Commerce: Saturday, September 22 6 PM
Commerce, TX
Game Analysis: Commerce is undefeated, and Pueblo just dropped their first game to their conference rivalry. These two teams know and respect each other, very well. I expect a high intensity game with the Thunderwolves wanting to knock-off the #1 team in the County. I feel that the Commerce passing inefficiencies catches up to them this week. Vincent Hobbs certainly needs the ball, a lot more. CSUP takes down Commerce.

West Texas A&M v. Western New Mexico: Saturday, September 22nd 1PM
Silver City, NM
Game Analysis: These two teams are coming-off big losses. They both really need a win. Who gets there first? WT makes the long trip to Silver City with some items needing to be cleaned-up from last week. WNMU gets their first taste at a conference foe.

West Texas A&M 24 WNMU 21

UT-Permian Basin v. Tarleton State: Saturday, September 22nd 7 PM
Stephenville, TX

If you live under a box, you need to take a moment to look and see exactly what Tarleton State has done in 3 weeks (remember SFA game was canceled). They have back-to-back games with 44-point victories. They have big win over a decent Delta team that has losing record; but, those losses are to 3 undefeated teams.

The Texans are running the ball really well and QB Ben Holmes appears to be that balance that they need throwing the ball and running it, when needed. The team had 2 LSC players of the week in their win last week. I like what I see in this team. If they can limit their penalties (151 yards in penalties per game), they could go far.

UTPB and MSU went through the 1st QTR last week with no score. In fact, the game would have been tied at halftime, if not for the 41 yard pass from Rabb to Tennison as the clock expired for the half (pretty awesome play). After the half, the Falcons began to fade until it was all MSU. The Falcons started Taylor Null at QB and he had a decent game going 22-35 completions, 2 TDs and 2 INTs. RB Marquis Simmons still appears to be the go-to RB with 101 rush yards for 1 TD. WR Kristian Brown had an outstanding game with 5 receptions for 120 yards with a TD (long of 56 yards). In hindsight, the defense has just struggled to slow anyone down for the entirety of the game. They look good at times; but, then cannot hold.
