Well, I have begun saying my farewells. This officially marks my last regular season posting.
I will continue to write for the LSC teams throughout the Playoffs and will be in attendance at several playoff games and at the National Title Game in McKinney, Texas.

I hope several of you get to make it there this year.

Can the LSC go all the way to the Title Game again this season?

In other thoughts, thank you for being loyal readers and great friends!

Many thanks for the years of following my writing. I will truly miss it.

LSC News:

In the news, Angelo State has parted-ways with Coach Will Wagner. Defensive Coordinator Jeff Girsch was promoted to Head Coach, upon the termination of Wagner.

West Texas A&M (6-4) v. #16 Midwestern State (7-2): Saturday, November 10th 1PM
Wichita Falls, TX

The Buffaloes came from behind last week, with some big plays from RB Brandon Blair. The team made some big rush plays, going 9.2 yards per carry. Minus the ENMU game, the Buffs have had a decent season (after 3-8 last season). Coach Hunter Hughes has made several strides on the season. The Buffaloes have overcome several challenging games, with such a young team. This team has a tough challenge against a battle-hardened ranked Midwestern Team that is vying for the NCAA Playoffs. The Buffs have struggled offensively with averaging under 300 yards (276.2); but, have found a way to win games. Not always pretty; but, they have found ways to win.

The Mustangs really ran into a wall against a WNMU team that has done a 180. Rabb and company have been really good this season. They have come-up short by 1-point on their 2 lone losses. The passing offense that nears the top in the D2 Nation has come-up huge on the big plays and throwing the ball around. Unfortunately, this team has struggled stopping opponents on defense (allows 411 yards per game). The team will have to step-up again this week against a formidable team out of West Texas.

Western New Mexico (0-8) v. #7 Tarleton State (9-0): Saturday, November 10th 2PM
Stephenville, TX

The WNMU Mustangs have completely turned themselves around in the past 2 weeks. The team has scored a total of 69 points in the last 2 contests, and over 400 rushing yards. However, they have not made the turn to win either of the last 2 games. On top of that, the WNMU Mustangs put 35 points on a ranked Midwestern State team and took it all the way to the 4th Quarter. Freshman QB Raemos Fano played a great game, going 15 for 27 with 209 yards, 2 TDs and 2 INTs. Last week was all about this rushing attack and offensive line, as RB DeAndre Williams ran for 116 yards and a score; while the team rushed a total of 247 yards.

On the other side of the line this week, the LSC-leading and ranked Tarleton State Texans. TSU will not have any easy game this week against the WNMU Mustangs. If they think that, they are wrong. The Texans running game has been stellar this season with McCants, Turner and Berryman. All three running backs went over 100 yards rushing last week. On top of that, the 3 combo scored 7 Touchdowns and ran for 349 yards. The rush defense held Lincoln to 15 net yards on 27 attempts (0.6 yards per carry). That makes them the #9 rush defense in the nation (90.7 yards per game).

Western Oregon (5-5) v. Eastern New Mexico (4-6): Saturday, November 10th 1 PM
Portales, NM

The Hounds lost convincingly last week to the Rams of Angelo State. ENMU had won 3 straight until last week. The Greyhounds were stopped cold in their efforts of running the ball, with less than 200 rushing yards (193 total rush last week). This is the same team that is commonly rushing over 300 plus yards a game. Tack on 3 TOs and the team could not overcome the obstacles. However, K Tyler Vargas booted a 52-yard Field Goal and it sailed through. The Hounds hope to get back on track against their foe from the GNAC.

The WOU Wolves take on their 3rd LSC opponent. The Wolves fell to Angelo State and bested Texas A&M Kingsville. WOU has tried to remain balanced all season in the rushing and passing game. Look for the Wolves to be a decent opponent for the Hounds.

Game Analysis: ENMU suffered a loss last week and needs to finish strong to finish out the season. They will be looking to run everything that they have at WOU. Look for a good and balanced game that will come down to late in the game.

UT-Permian Basin (2-8) v. Texas A&M Kingsville (3-7): Saturday, November 10th 7PM
Kingsville, TX

The Falcons had their opponent last week in the cross-hairs. They held the lead at halftime against the Commerce Lions, until the 1 and only score happened within 5 seconds into the second half. QB Taylor Null has still been a great answer for this team; however, Null and the O-line gave-up 9 sacks in their loss. UTPB is still progressing as a team. Still showing glimpse of greatness and struggles along the way. The team defense works each week to progress and step-up. The team defense really played well against a good Lions team. They have a good Javelinas team to finish-out the season.

The Javs lost their game against WT in the final minutes of the game last week. QB Detmer passed for over 300 yards in a great performance, along with 3 TDs and 1 INT. The team also contributed over 100 yards on the ground. The team had one of their better offensive performances and just came-up shy of a win. This team has a great offense, that is averaging 358 yards per game. But, the defense is giving-up 363 yards per game. The Javelina defense has just not been able to stop the opponents that they have needed, and the offense has not out-scored them either. The team is coming together; but, just had their share of issues on defense.

Game Analysis: I look forward to this game. These two teams have not had the most ideal season. Both teams want a win. Both teams have fallen on their luck. Who comes out on top?

Texas A&M Kingsville 28 UTPB 27

Be safe and God Bless!
