The week in recap:
Every week, something happens in the CIAA that really comes out of nowhere and surprises the bejeezus out of us all. I will attempt to explain how this week played out with memes:

Virginia Union (21) @ Chowan (54) - LeBron's Championship Claim

I mean, this was certainly unexpected. Its not even the score that just threw off everyone up. You need to dig deeper into how Chowan dismantled the Panthers. And every time, you thought VUU would make a run, the Hawks just absolutely asserted themselves. Key stats in this game: Chowan has 603 yards of total offense. VUU totally abandoned the run game early, as QB Shawheem Dowdy had a school-record 68 pass attempts.

Virginia State (37) @ Bowie State (38) - The end of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory

This game was just incredible to say the least.Key Stats: The Trojans actually outgained their canine opponent 405-385, and more had more first downs (22 to 20). Terrible. The Bulldogs had two 100 yard receivers in this game (Nyme Manns with 129 yards and Brandon Britton with 111 yards).

For all the high expectations that Ram fans have and their quelling about the passing WSSU is also now the conference leader in scoring defense.The lack of scoring punch was the result of costly turnovers and penalties.

Shaw (12) @ Livingstone (23) - Patience Bear

Watching both the Shaw Bears and the Livingstone Blue Bears require high levels of patience, as these are two rebuilding clubs. Key Stats: Shaw had three players who made or assisted on 10 or more tackles, led by Dominique Hannibal. QB Timothy Abbott was the Bears' leading passer and rusher. Livingstone won the turnover battle 3-1.

JC Smith (21) @ Fayetteville State (37) - Office Space

I mean, what do you say when FSU just absolutely proves you wrong by scoring a season high in points? Forget what I said about the Broncos offense or my pick last week.I know nothing. The Broncos are now 2-0 in the division. Key Stats: FSU Freshman Running Back Stevie Green just trampled the Golden Bulls for 234 yards.As a comparison, JCSU only had 238 yards of total offense. Kicker David Lamb was perfect on the day, as he went 3-3 on field goal attempts and 4-4 on extra points.

Elizabeth City State (33) @ Lincoln PA (23) - "Lord Jesus there's a fire"

This game was really close at the half (16-15), but ECSU put a stop really fast of any thoughts of being the first CIAA school to fall to Lincoln this year. ECSU was the only road team to win on Saturday. Key Stats: Both teams had trouble stopping each other at times, as ECSU converted 67 percent of their third downs and Lincoln completed 50 percent of theirs.
