Bloomsburg staged the biggest comeback in NCAA Division II football history, scoring 55 straight points to overcome a 35-0 deficit and beat West Chester 55-42 to remain the only undefeated team in the PSAC.
The second-ranked Huskies (8-0, 5-0 PSAC East) stayed on track for a perfect regular season, but not before two touchdown runs each by Brian McDermott and Rondell White helped the Golden Rams (4-4, 3-2) build their huge lead just 4:31 into the second quarter.
Bloomsburg battled back to within 14 at halftime, 35-21, and tied it on a 7-yard run by Franklyn Quiteh and a 3-yard pass from Mike Wagner to Mark Daniels on a fake field goal in the third quarter.
The Huskies finally took the lead, 42-35, on a 31-yard interception return by JP Patrick. Two Dan Fisher field goals and a 25-yard pass from Pat Carey to Eddie Mateo with 4:46 left sealed the unlikely win.
Quiteh rushed for 190 yards and two touchdowns, Mateo finished with 111 and Carey threw for 212.
Matt Carroll and Sean McCartney combined for 288 passing yards for West Chester.
CALIFORNIA 32, MERCYHURST 26: California created a tie in the waning moments of regulation and then disposed of Mercyhurst in overtime on a 4-yard touchdown run by Jeff Knox to avoid a second consecutive loss.
Trailing 26-20, the Vulcans (6-2, 4-1 PSAC West) drove 63 yards and tied the game on a 6-yard pass from Peter Lalich to Blake Williamson. The extra point by Cody Nuzzo was no good, sending the game into overtime.
Mercyhurst (3-5, 1-4) had the ball first but the Vulcans' Brian Justice intercepted an Anthony Vendemia pass in the end zone, setting the stage for the game-winning score by Knox.
Lalich threw for 284 yards, including nine completions for 116 yards and a touchdown to Thomas Mayo. Lamont Smith rushed for 70.
Vendemia had 235 yards through the air, but he was picked off three times. Trevor Kennedy had nine catches for 104 yards.
SLIPPERY ROCK 48, LOCK HAVEN 27: Slippery Rock moved within one win of its first PSAC West championship in 11 years behind 397 passing yards from Cody Endres and a record-setting performance by Devin Goda.
Goda set school marks with 225 receiving yards and four touchdowns to lead the 22nd-ranked Rock, grabbing scoring passes of 38 and 21 yards from Endres and 43 and 32 from backup Jared Buck. Endres also threw two scoring passes to Mike Bongivengo.
Slippery Rock (7-1, 5-0 PSAC West) last won a division title in 2000 when it shared first place with IUP and Clarion. The Rock has not lost to Lock Haven since 1980, going 30-0-1.
Jarrett Kratzer threw three touchdown passes, including a pair to Jay Hartman, for Lock Haven (0-7, 0-5), which lost its 39th straight game to tie Cheyney for the longest streak in PSAC history.
EDINBORO 21, CLARION 10: Cody Harris completed 19 of 23 passes for 203 yards and accounted for all three touchdowns to lead the Fighting Scots over Clarion.
Harris opened the scoring on a 2-yard run and then fired touchdown strikes of 32 yards to David Bostic and 25 to D'Mar Jeter to stake Edinboro (6-2, 3-2 PSAC West) to a 21-3 lead in the second quarter.
Patrick Graham-Murphy rushed for 174 yards for Clarion (1-7, 1-4) and scored the only touchdown on a 4-yard run 20 seconds before halftime. Ben Fiscus added 41 rushing yards.
KUTZTOWN 42, C.W. POST 30: Kutztown struck for two long touchdowns in the fourth quarter after surrendering most of an early 21-point lead, and the Golden Bears kept their hopes alive for the PSAC East title while handing C.W. Post its first division loss of the season.
Kevin Morton threw for 458 yards and three touchdowns, including a 68-yarder to Troy Foster to build the Kutztown lead to 35-23. Curtis Wortham added a game-clinching 46-yard run with just over two minutes left for the 19th-ranked Golden Bears (7-1, 4-1 PSAC East).
Wortham rushed for 95 yards on only four carries. Erik Frazier caught 10 passes for 173 yards, while Josh Mastromatto added 11 for 131 on a 576-yard offensive day for Kutztown.
Steven Laurino threw for 295 yards for C.W. Post (4-4, 4-1) but threw three interceptions and was sacked seven times.
MILLERSVILLE 31, EAST STROUDSBURG 27: Dan Miller threw a 2-yard touchdown pass to Dominic Sanders with 17 seconds left to rally Millersville and spoil Denny Douds' 394th game as East Stroudsburg's head coach, a new Division II record.
East Stroudsburg took a 27-24 lead on a 43-yard field goal by Taylor Groff with 3:32 left before the Marauders (3-5, 2-3) drove 50 yards for the game-winning score. Miller threw for 115 yards, and Marquis White rushed for 115 for Millersville.
Ray Wagner, coming off consecutive 500-yard passing games for the Warriors, threw for 172 and two touchdowns but was picked off three times before leaving the game in the third quarter with an injury. Jordan Hallman caught eight passes for 221 yards and a pair of scores.
SHIPPENSBURG 59, CHEYNEY 20: Zack Zulli threw six touchdown passes, including four in the opening 23 minutes to stake Shippensburg to a 28-0 lead, and the Raiders remained perfect in 13 all-time meetings against Cheyney.
Zulli hit five different receivers for touchdowns, with two going to Mike Frenette, and finished with 25 completions in 36 attempts for 384 yards. Shippensburg (4-4, 2-3 PSAC East) piled up 528 yards of total offense.
Marcus Jones rushed for 90 yards to lead Cheyney (1-7, 0-5).
