-With SMSU and UMD both losing in Week 9, both are seemingly eliminated from the playoff hunt but stranger things have happened.
-Bemidji State has the longest winning streak in the NSIC at 6 games. The Beavers and Northern State are both 5-0 in North Division play. The Wolves had a huge win over perennial power UMD, the Bulldogs first loss to a North team since SCSU in 2012.
-After 8 weeks the Regional Rankings came out and had USF at #3, Mankato at #6, and Augie at #7. Taking a quick look at the SOS and Wins over .500 or better opponents, I'd expect to see Mankato move up in the RR's with a win over SMSU and for USF to drop now that they have 1-8 CSP on their resume.
-With the silo scheduling in-play, the committee has shown they are looking to utilize factors such as road win %, over .500 wins, and out-of-conference participation as additional criteria in the seeding and selection process. That said, I could see Mankato and Henderson State at #3 and #4 (either way) and then USF at #5. Augustana being the best 2-loss resume at #7 once again. There are now 6 teams with 1 loss or better, 4 teams with 2 losses. So it basically looks like a 10 team field at the moment with Arkansas Tech and Western Oregon moving into the top 10 mix this week. Full disclosure, I have not done the math this year, so I'm spitballin these numbers at the moment. We will know about 3pm Monday the official spots.
-Expect the Regional Rankings to looks something like this tomorrow..(top 7 make the playoffs)
1. NWMSU 9-0
2. Humboldt State 7-1
3. Mankato 8-1
4. Henderson State 8-1
5. USF 8-1
6. Emporia State 8-1
7. Augustana 7-2
8. Central Missouri 7-2
9. Western Oregon 6-3 (only 2 losses in D2)
10. Arkansas Tech 7-2
-Big games this week that will help shape the Super Region Three Playoff picture..
Mankato at USF
Augustana at Winona State
