I will be previewing all of the NE-10 football teams over the next 10 days. I will roll out each team in my preseason poll from # 10 to # 1. The NE-10 will release the coaches preseason poll towards the end of August.

The season starts on September 5th when American International travels to face PSAC opponent East Stroudsburg.

Here is the my pick for # 2 in the league in 2013:

LIU-Post Pioneers (3-7, 2-5 PSAC East)

Coach: Bryan Collins, 16th season (110-54)

Opening Game: September 7th @ Millersville

Welcome to the newest member of the NE-10. Well, they have been here before under a different name. But the coach and the tradition of the program are the same. LIU-Post's return to the league was the worst kept secret last football season. They are ready to return to the league and are ready to make some noise.

The Pioneers will rely heavily on a solid running game. Senior Jeff Mack will see the majority of the carries after gaining over 500 yards last year. Fellow classmate Anthony Brunetti will also see action out the backfield. Junior quarterback Steve Laurino will hope for a healthy year and improve upon his 1,500 passing yards and 14 touchdowns. He is a dual threat as he was second in rushing yards last year. His top target is back in senior receiver Joe Botti who hauled in 36 passes last year. The Post offensive line lost some talent to graduation but is always physical.

The defense will be looking to improve upon their 30.5 points per game given up last year. Senior linebacker Rob Bright is the top tackler back after recording 79 tackles in 2012. The defensive line is very experienced with junior David Sumter and senior Dillon Quinn expected to reek havoc in the opposing backfield. Sumter was second in sacks for Post last year and Quinn is a Division I transfer. The secondary will see some new faces from a year ago.

Head coach Bryan Collins has done a solid job at LIU-Post over the years. His teams were near the top of the NE-10 before they left for the PSAC in 2007. After a couple of tough seasons in the conference, they return back to a conference that they have a legitimate shot at winning if they are able to stay healthy at key positions and get some luck along the way.
