I will be previewing all of the NE-10 football teams over the next 10 days. I will roll out each team in my preseason poll from # 10 to # 1. The NE-10 will release the coaches' preseason poll on August 25th.

The season starts on September 4th when defending champ American International travels to Assumption to open the 2014 campaign.

Here is the my pick for #4 in the league in 2014:

New Haven Chargers (8-3, 7-2 NE-10)

Coach: Chris Pincince, 1st year (0-0)

Opening Game: September 6th vs West Chester

2013 Stats

2014 Roster

There is a new leader for the New Haven football team and he must rebuild a team that lost a lot of starters from a year ago. The Chargers lost two games on their home turf last year and lost a shot at defending their NE-10 title. But a new coach and several new key players will try to get New Haven back into their customary position at the top of the league.

The offense has a lot of new faces that will contribute in 2014. Senior quarterback Joey Bradley is the leader to become the new signal caller. He saw limited action last year but has the most experience of the quarterbacks on the roster. Senior Trevor Officer and sophomore Andre Anderson are expected to see the most carries out of the backfield. Junior Ty Headen and senior Roshawn Wilson will be the top targets and will hope to stretch the field for the Chargers. Senior Zach Guy will be the anchor of the always strong offensive line for New Haven.

The defense sees a lot of familiar faces back. Senior safety Herbens Antenor might have changed his number but he will be his usual back hawking self on the field. Senior Rodney Lanham will also help to stop the opposing passing game from his cornerback position. Junior David Nooks and senior Tyler Condit will anchor of the middle of the field for the Chargers from their linebacking positions. The defensive line will need to pressure the quarterback.

Head coach Chris Pincince is very familiar with the success of New Haven and will get the Chargers back to the top of the NE-10. The expectations are always high for the Chargers and he has his work cut out for him. If the new offense is clicking early, it will a tough thing for the rest of the league.
