Can you believe that we are at the end of the regular season? This season has flown by and we will determine a regular season championship this weekend. After that, we will determine the two teams that will play for the trophy on November 15th.

Bentley (4-5, 3-5 NE-10) @ LIU Post (6-3, 6-2 NE-10)

When: November 8th, 12:00 PM

All-Time Series: Post leads the series, 10-6-0

My Thoughts: All eyes in the league will be on this game.

Bentley is suddenly one of the hotter teams in the league as they won their third game in a row with a 30-24 victory in double overtime. The Falcons are the cog in the NE-10 championship picture as they knocked Assumption out of title contention and now have the same chance for Post. Bentley has been in each game this year and deserved a better fate in a bunch of those games. For Bentley to win on the road, they will need to find a way to move the ball through the air and then set up their running game. They will also need to contain the dual threat offense of Post.

Post took care of business on the road last week with a 28-3 victory over Southern Connecticut. The Pioneers still control their own fate for a spot into the NE-10 championship game. It is very simple as they need to beat Bentley to earn their spot into the game. For Post to win the game, they will need to find a way to slow down the Bentley passing game and not allow them to make big plays. The offense will need to continue their explosiveness and find the end zone when given the opportunity.

This match up decided the NE-10 champion for years. It is always a good game and this one will be close. Both teams are used to the game being decided in the final minutes. That is an advantage to the home team.

Prediction: Post 31 Bentley 28

St. Anselm (5-4, 4-4 NE-10) @ New Haven (6-3, 6-2 NE-10)

When: November 8th, 12:00 PM

All-Time Series: New Haven leads the series, 4-1-0

My Thoughts: Two teams headed in opposite directions.

St. Anselm dropped their fourth game in a row to Stonehill 23-16. The Hawks have struggled in recent weeks to move the ball and stop the opposing offense. They look nothing like the team that started 5-0 and need to regain their confidence. They have played a tougher schedule in recent weeks but the core that got them to 5-0 is the same. For St. Anselm to win on the road, they will need to move the ball and get first downs. They need to control the clock and let their defense stay on the sidelines.

New Haven is the hottest team in the league right now after their 40-0 victory at Pace. The Chargers are on the outside of the championship game race because of their tough start to the season. They need some help to play in that game but still need to take care of business with St. Anselm. For New Haven to win the game, they will need to continue their balanced offensive attack and score when given the chance. The defense will also need to make stops and not allow St. Anselm to control the clock.

St. Anselm has won on the blue turf in New Haven but this year is different. New Haven is playing too well right now to allow that to happen again.

Prediction: New Haven 31 St. Anselm 14

Assumption (5-4, 5-3 NE-10) @ Stonehill (4-5, 4-4 NE-10)

When: November 8th, 12:00 PM

All-Time Series: Stonehill leads the series, 20-6-0

My Thoughts: This match up is starting to produce some memorable games.

Assumption saw their championship aspirations take a major hit with a 30-24 double overtime loss to Bentley last weekend. The Greyhounds scored late in regulation to force overtime but were not able to stop the Bentley offense in either overtime session, sealing their fate. Assumption still has a chance to sew up fourth place for the second straight year. For Assumption to win on the road, they will need to do what they have done for eight consecutive regular season road games, play with confidence. Both sides of the ball will need to make plays.

Stonehill won on the road at St. Anselm 23-16. The Skyhawks jumped out to a 23-0 lead before holding off a late rally for the win. Nate Robitaille continues to rewrite the receiving record book for Stonehill as he is now the all-time leader in receptions. The defense played well again and limited St. Anselm to just 205 yards of total offense. For Stonehill to win the game, they will need to continue their strong defensive effort and score when they have the ball in the red zone.

Stonehill will have all of the emotion for Senior Day but Assumption will find a way to win the game on the road again.

Prediction: Assumption 24 Stonehill 23

Pace (0-9, 0-8 NE-10) @ American International (7-2, 7-1 NE-10)

When: November 8th, 1:00 PM

All-Time Series: AIC leads the series, 15-2-0

My Thoughts: Two teams at opposite ends of the standings.

Pace felt to New Haven last weekend by the score of 40-0. The Setters continued to struggle on both sides of the ball and now face the best team in the league. It has been four games since they last saw the end zone and they will need to find a way to move the ball against one of the better defenses. For Pace to win on the road, they will need to move the ball consistently and get the stops on the defensive side of the ball.

American International barely escaped Merrimack with a 24-21 victory last Saturday. They led 24-0 in the third quarter before the Warriors mounted the comeback. A blocked field goal and a late defensive stand after an on sides kick helped AIC to another league road win. The Yellow Jackets need one more win to clinch home field for the championship game. For AIC to win the game, they will need to take control of the game early and not make too many mistakes.

AIC is the better team and will easily win the game.

Prediction: AIC 42 Pace 7

Southern Connecticut (2-7, 2-6 NE-10) @ Merrimack (3-6, 3-5 NE-10)

When: November 8th, 1:00 PM

All-Time Series: Series tied at 8-8-0

My Thoughts: Both teams had hoped for better 2014 seasons.

Southern Connecticut lost their home finale to LIU Post 28-3. The Owls were not able to find the end zone and had trouble with the Post offense. Southern was not able to stop Post quarterback Steve Laurino but that has the been the story of the season for any team that has faced him. For Southern Connecticut to win on the road, they will need to move the ball and convert on third downs. The Owl defense will also need to contain the Merrimack offensive weapons.

Merrimack dropped another home game to AIC 24-21. The Warriors scored the final 21 points of the game and had a couple of opportunities to tie or take the lead. They recovered an on sides kick in the final two minutes of the game but the drive stalled at midfield. For the Merrimack to win the game, they will need to play a full 60 minute game. They have the weapons to play a complete game and have struggled to play the entire game.

Both teams need to finish the season on a high note heading into championship weekend. Merrimack will make a late play to win this game.

Prediction: Merrimack 24 Southern Connecticut 17
